The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR),can be divided into three geographical regions:Hong Kong Island,Kowloon,and the New Territories. Hong Kong is a coastal city and major port in Southern China,bordering Guangdong Province through the city of Shenzhen to the north and the South China Sea to the east,south,and west. Hong Kong and its 260 nearby islands and peninsulas are located at the mouth of the Pearl River Delta. The area of Hong Kong is distinct from Mainland China,but is considered a part of "Greater China".
Central is the central business district of Hong Kong. It is located in the northeastern corner of the Central and Western District,on the north shore of Hong Kong Island,across Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui,the southernmost point of Kowloon Peninsula. The area was the heart of Victoria City,although that name is rarely used today.
The City of Victoria,often called Victoria City or simply Victoria,was the de facto capital of Hong Kong during its time as a British dependent territory. It was initially named Queenstown but was soon known as Victoria. It was one of the first urban settlements in Hong Kong and its boundaries are recorded in the Laws of Hong Kong. All government bureaux and many key departments still have their head offices located within its limit.
Ladder streets are narrow streets in Hong Kong comprising steps. Most are found between Central and Sheung Wan and Mid-Levels on Hong Kong Island,from Queen's Road Central,through Hollywood Road and a few other cross streets,to Caine Road at the Mid-Levels. Sheung Wan is an area in Hong Kong,located in the north-west of Hong Kong Island,between Central and Sai Ying Pun. Administratively,it is part of the Central and Western District. The name can be variously interpreted as Upper District,or Gateway District.
Sai Wan,also known as Western district,or simply Western, is an area in Hong Kong Island,Hong Kong that corresponds to Sai Ying Pun,Shek Tong Tsui,Belcher Bay and Kennedy Town. However,Some Hong Kong people consider Kennedy Town as the only part of Sai Wan. It formed part of the City of Victoria. West Point,a former cape where major government structures in Sai Wan are close to,also used to refer to Sai Wan.
Castle Peak Road is the longest road in Hong Kong. Completed in 1920,it runs in the approximate shape of an arc of a semi-circle. It runs West from Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po,New Kowloon,to Tuen Mun,then north to Yuen Long then east to Sheung Shui,in the very north of the New Territories. It is divided into 22 sections. It serves south,west and north New Territories,being one of the most distant roads in early Hong Kong.
Sai Ying Pun is an area in Western District,on Hong Kong Island,in Hong Kong. It is administratively part of the Central and Western District.
Ladder Street is a street in the Central and Western District of Hong Kong,consisting entirely of steps and landings formed by granite slabs or concrete paving. It was so named because it extends straight up and down like a ladder. The street has been listed as a Grade I historic building.
Aberdeen Street is a border street dividing Sheung Wan and Central on Hong Kong Island,Hong Kong. It ascends from Queen's Road Central to Caine Road in Mid-Levels. The street is named after George Hamilton-Gordon,4th Earl of Aberdeen,Foreign Secretary at the time of the cession of Hong Kong Island to the United Kingdom in 1842.
Clear Water Bay Road is a major road from Choi Hung Interchange in Ngau Chi Wan to Clear Water Bay,Sai Kung District. It also is a route to Sai Kung Town and Tseung Kwan O via Hiram's Highway and Hang Hau Road / Ying Yip Road respectively. An expressway deviation,New Clear Water Bay Road (新清水灣道),bypasses a steep,winding,1 in 6 alignment of Clear Water Bay Road near Shun Lee and Fei Ngo Shan.
Blake Garden,also known as Blake Gardens,is a small urban park in Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island,near Man Mo Temple. The park is named after Sir Henry Arthur Blake,a former British Governor of Hong Kong. It includes hard-surface playing areas for football,basketball and badminton/volleyball.
Tung Wah Hospital is a Charitable hospital in Hong Kong under the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. Located above Possession Point,at 12 Po Yan Street in Sheung Wan,it is the first hospital established in Colonial Hong Kong for the general public in the 1870s.
Anderson Road is a road on the eastern border of the New Territories and New Kowloon in Hong Kong. It starts near the junction of Clear Water Bay Road and New Clear Water Bay Road,above Shun Lee Estate,then continues southeast to Tseng Lan Shue (井欄樹) and eastward through the hills above Sau Mau Ping,and finally ends at Po Lam Road (寶琳路) in Ma Yau Tong.
