White County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 76,822. The county seat is Searcy. White County is Arkansas's 31st county, formed on October 23, 1835, from portions of Independence, Jackson, and Pulaski counties and named for Hugh Lawson White, a Whig candidate for President of the United States. It is an alcohol prohibition or dry county, though a few private establishments can serve alcohol.
Russellville is the county seat and largest city in Pope County, Arkansas, United States, with a 2021 estimated population of 29,338. It is home to Arkansas Tech University. Arkansas Nuclear One, Arkansas' only nuclear power plant is nearby. Russellville borders Lake Dardanelle and the Arkansas River.
Sheridan is a town in Adams Township, Hamilton County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,665 at the 2010 census. The center of population of Indiana is located just northwest of Sheridan.
The McDonald's Sign, also known as McDonald's Store #433 Sign, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, United States, is one of only a few surviving examples of a single-arch McDonald's sign. The sign was erected in 1962 and remained at its original location until 2007. That year, McDonald's Store #433 moved and the sign was renovated and moved to the new location. The McDonald's sign was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
Feraud General Merchandise Store, also known as 1903 Building, was built in 1903 in Ventura, California. Jules Feraud opened the Feraud Bakery and Grocery Store and the bakery stayed in the family until 1944. The brick building is a rare intact example of turn-of-the-century commercial architecture during Second Land Boom after the tracks of the Southern Pacific Railroad arrived in Ventura. The City Council of Ventura designated the building Historic Landmark Number 35 by resolution on July 17, 1978. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
Highway 14 is an east–west state highway in Arkansas. The route of 227.35 miles (365.88 km) begins at Boat Dock Road near Table Rock Lake and runs east to Mississippi County Route W1020 (CR W1020) at Golden Lake. Segments of the highway are part of two Arkansas Scenic Byways: Sylamore Scenic Byway in the Ozark National Forest and the Crowley's Ridge Parkway atop Crowley's Ridge.
Robie's Country Store is a historic store at 9 Riverside Street in Hooksett, New Hampshire, United States. As a business, the general store was in continuous operation between 1822 and 1997, the last 110 years under the ownership of the Robie family from 1887, from whence it gets its name. The current building, constructed in 1906 following a fire, is a rare regional example of a store with a "boomtown" facade. It has been a political stop for presidential candidates since the early 1950s. Robie's Country Store was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2002. It is now owned by a non-profit organization, with the store operated under lease.
The Warenski-Duvall Commercial Building and Apartments, built in 1915, is a two-story brick, two part commercial block that is listed in National Register of Historic Places. The building is significant for its role in the early urbanization of Murray, Utah. The Warenski-Duvall building represents a building-type common during the early-twentieth century development of Murray's commercial business district and it is also part of the Murray Downtown Historic District. The building's owner was Edward J. Warenski, an early resident of Murray who owned a saloon and grocery store on State Street. Warenski and his family lived just north of the store. In 1923, the Duvall family purchased the building and divided the upper floor into apartments where family members and other workers in downtown Murray lived.
The Murray Downtown Residential Historic District is the best representative area of the residential settlement and development of the city of Murray, Utah, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. It is locally significant as a physical reflection of its residential architecture and the historic development of the city from its agricultural beginnings through its industrial era and current status as a small suburban city. The buildings within the district represent the wide range of architectural styles and plans popular in the city and the state of Utah between 1870 and 1954 and retain a high degree of integrity.
Arkansas Highway 11 is a designation for three state highways in Arkansas. One segment of 36.23 miles (58.31 km) runs from US Route 63 (US 63) at Pansy to Huff Island Public Use Area near Grady. A second segment of 12.83 miles (20.65 km) begins just across the Arkansas River at the eastern terminus of Highway 88 at Reydell and runs north to US 65 west of De Witt. A third route of 37.53 miles (60.40 km) runs from Interstate 40 (I-40) and US 63 in Hazen north to Highway 367 in Searcy.
Gay Street is a street in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, that traverses the heart of the city's downtown area. Since its development in the 1790s, Gay Street has served as the city's principal financial and commercial thoroughfare, and has played a primary role in the city's historical and cultural development. The street contains Knoxville's largest office buildings and oldest commercial structures. Several buildings on Gay Street have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Highway 190 is a designation for four state highways in Arkansas. Three are low-traffic rural highways in Grant County, with one designation along city streets in Pine Bluff. The rural segments were created in 1965 and 1966, with the Pine Bluff section created in 2000 as a renumbering of Highway 104. All segments are maintained by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).
Causeyville, Mississippi is a small community in southeastern Lauderdale County, Mississippi, about twelve miles southeast of the city of Meridian. The Causeyville Historic District consists of four buildings at the center of the community–two general stores and two residences–that exemplify the pivotal contribution that small communities like Causeyville made to the development of Lauderdale County. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
The Arkansas City Commercial District encompasses the three oldest surviving commercial buildings in Arkansas City, Arkansas. They are located along Sprague (4th) Avenue, between Kate Adams (1st) Street and De Soto Avenue, and are a reminder of a once-thriving commercial district in the city. The Cotham Drug Store, a two-story brick building from c. 1900, stands near the corner of Sprague and De Soto, facing south. The Red Star Grocery, built 1900, stands to its right; it is also a two-story brick building, but its facade has been altered, replacing a recessed doorway with a flush one. Stylistically the two buildings are similar, with brick corbelling and a course of dentil molding, with a parapet above. The third building is the Ramus Brothers Market, which stands on Sprague Street, and was built in 1910 out of poured concrete.
U.S. Highway 71 is a U.S. highway that runs from Krotz Springs, LA to the Fort Frances–International Falls International Bridge at the Canadian border. In Arkansas, the highway runs from the Louisiana state line near Doddridge to the Missouri state line near Bella Vista. In Texarkana, the highway runs along State Line Avenue with US 59 and partially runs in Texas. Other areas served by the highway include Fort Smith and Northwest Arkansas.
The Revel General Store is a historic commercial building at the southwest corner of Arkansas Highway 260 and Woodruff County Road 17 in Revel, Arkansas. It is a small single-story vernacular wood-frame structure, finished in its original weatherboard siding, and sporting a false parapet in front of a gabled roof. Built in 1908, it is the only commercial building in the hamlet, served as its general store until about 1975.
The Campbell Post Office–Kuykendall General Store is a historic residential–commercial building in rural Searcy County, Arkansas. It is located on County Road 73, northwest of Oxley, Arkansas. It is a single-story wood-frame structure with modest Greek Revival styling. Its construction date was long thought to be 1920, but it was more likely built around 1900, still an extremely late date for the Greek Revival. It was converted into a post office and general store in the 1920s by Henry Kuykendall.
Hankins' Store is a historic commercial building at Ferry Road and Main Street in Oil Trough, Arkansas. It is a single-story wood-frame structure, built out of local cypress lumber, with a gable roof and clapboard siding that is original to its 1904 construction. An open porch extends across its front. The store stands near the White River Slough, a former course of the White River. It served the local community for almost exactly 100 years, closing in 2004, and typifies early 20th-century general stores.
Lackey General Merchandise and Warehouse is a historic commercial building at the northeast corner of Arkansas Highway 66 and North Peabody Avenue in the center of Mountain View, Arkansas. It is a roughly rectangular two-story structure, built out of local stone, with a flat roof surrounded by a low parapet. Its main facade faces west toward the Stone County Courthouse, with plate glass windows topped by awnings on the first floor, and four sash windows on the second. The main entrance is in an angle at the street corner, with the building corner supported by a square stone post. Built in 1924, it is believed to be the largest commercial building in Stone County.
The El Paso Bank is a historic commercial building on White County Road 3, east of Arkansas Highway 5 in El Paso, Arkansas. It is a vernacular single-story brick structure, with a front-facing gable roof. Its front facade has a fixed-frame window across much of its width, and the main entrance set at an angle on the right corner. A porch extends across the front, with remnants of latticework supported by turned posts. Built in 1912, it is the oldest surviving commercial building in the small community.
