The Union Pacific Railroad Depot in Concordia, Kansas, is a historic railroad depot that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [1] The building is one of many built by the Union Pacific Railroad to assist with the company's growth across the United States.
The building is no longer used as a railroad depot. It has been restored and now houses the National Orphan Train Complex. The complex hosts a museum and research center dedicated to the preservation of the stories and artifacts of those who were part of the Orphan Train Movement from 1854 to 1929. [2] The museum is open for research and is visited by around 4,000 people each year, one third of who are descendants of orphan train riders. [3]

The Orphan Train Movement was a supervised welfare program that transported children from crowded Eastern cities of the United States to foster homes located largely in rural areas of the Midwest. The orphan trains operated between 1854 and 1929, relocating from about 200,000 children. The co-founders of the Orphan Train movement claimed that these children were orphaned, abandoned, abused, or homeless, but this was not always true. They were mostly the children of new immigrants and the children of the poor and destitute families living in these cities. Criticisms of the program include ineffective screening of caretakers, insufficient follow-ups on placements, and that many children were used as strictly slave farm labor.
The St. Louis County Depot is a historic railroad station in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. It was built as a union station in 1892, serving seven railroads at its peak. Rail service ceased in 1969 and the building was threatened with demolition until it reopened in 1973 as St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center . Train service also resumed from 1974 to 1985, by Amtrak.

North Creek station is a historic railroad station complex located at North Creek, Warren County, New York. The complex consists of the railroad station, the freight house, round house, turntable, and horse barn. The station was built in 1874 and is a simple, rectangular, gable roofed building with a broad, overhanging strut-supported roof in the Stick-Eastlake style. Its exterior is covered with vertical boards.
Limon Railroad Depot was a major Union Pacific and Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad station in Limon, Colorado. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2003. It is included in what is now the Limon Heritage Museum and Railroad Park. It is one of seven still standing Rock Island Line stations in Colorado, and the only one restored.
Kansas City Union Station is a union station opened in 1914, serving Kansas City, Missouri, and the surrounding metropolitan area. It replaced a small Union Depot from 1878. Union Station served a peak annual traffic of more than 670,000 passengers in 1945 at the end of World War II, quickly declined in the 1950s, and was closed in 1985.
Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad Passenger Station is located on 1501 Jones Street in Fort Worth, Texas. The depot was built by the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad in 1900 and renovated in 1938. It was originally called the Fort Worth Union Depot. Other tenant railroads at the station were the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railway, the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway ('Frisco') and the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Great Overland Station, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Union Pacific Railroad Passenger Depot, is a museum and former railroad station in Topeka, Kansas, United States. The station was built from 1925 to 27 and designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood, whose firm designed over 20 Union Pacific Railroad stations from 1924 to 1931. The station's Free Classical Revival design uses terra cotta extensively and features a center pavilion with two increasingly smaller pavilions on either side. Passenger service to the station began in January 1927; almost 20,000 people attended the station's grand opening, and the new station was considered "one of the largest and finest stations west of the Missouri River". In the later years of its train station life, it also hosted the passenger trains of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway 'Santa Fe' had its trains stop at its own Topeka station.

Allen Depot was established in 1876 in the central ward of Allen, Texas. The train depot served as a water stop for the Galveston and Red River Railway chartered by Ebenezer Allen in 1848. By 1856, the Southeast Texas to Red River railroad would transition to the Houston and Texas Central Railway.
