Wall Spring, also known as Elliott Springs, is a historic mansion on a farm in Gallatin, Tennessee, U.S.. It was a horse farm in the Antebellum Era.

History

The house was built in 1827 for Colonel George Elliott, a veteran of the War of 1812 and the First Seminole War. [2] Elliott bred horses on the farm. [2] He was a co-founder of the Nashville Jockey Club in Nashville, Tennessee in 1807 alongside President Andrew Jackson and Governor Newton Cannon. [2] His brother Charles lived at Walnut Grove nearby. [2] Colonel Elliott died in 1861, and Wall Spring remained in the Elliott family until 1869. [2]

Architectural significance

The house was first designed in the Federal architectural style. [2] It was redesigned in the Italianate and Greek Revival architectural styles in the 1850s. [2] It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 8, 1994. [3]

Grassland Farm United States historic place

Grassland Farm is a historic gem of the antebellum style of architecture typical of the southern states of that time, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built on land donated by the then new state of North Carolina, in the Federal style of the early 1800s (1810-1815), by Alexander Grier, a war hero who had served in the American Revolutionary War. A portico, designed in the Greek Revival architectural style, was added shortly thereafter along with a great room connecting the formerly outside kitchen. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 4, 1975. It is noted for its extraordinary architecture and sprawling 71 acres of gently rolling hills. Several of its mantels are considered some of the very best of their genre. The original size of the plantation was 5000 acres. Included on the property are period outbuildings and a breathtaking antique barn. Today, the residence is considered to be among the most beautiful of the area and is privately owned.

Moye Boarding House United States historic place

The Moye Boarding House is a historic building in Portland, Tennessee. It was built in 1878–1892 for A.C. Butt or Kate Moye on land formerly owned by Thomas Buntin. It was a boarding house on the Louisville & Nashville Railroad from 1890 to 1945. It was acquired by the city of Portland in 2011, and it received $15,000 from the Tennessee Historical Commission and the Historic Preservation Fund to be restored in 2016. The building was designed in the Folk Victorian architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 27, 2013.
