Washington Avenue Historic District is a national historic district located at Fredericksburg, Virginia. The district includes 36 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site (the Gordon Family Cemetery), and 4 contributing objects in the city of Fredericksburg. It includes substantial, high-style residences that line both the east and the west sides of Washington Avenue reflect the various domestic styles that were popular at the turn of the 20th century. Notable dwellings include the Samuel W. Somerville House (1896-1897), Shepherd House (1910-1911), and Mary Washington Monument Caretaker's Lodge (1896). The four commemorative works are the Mary Washington Monument (1893), General Hugh Mercer Monument (1906) by Edward Virginius Valentine (1838-1930), Jefferson Religious Freedom Monument (1932), and the George Rogers Clark Memorial (1929). Located in the district is the separately listed Kenmore. [3]

Kenmore, also known as Kenmore Plantation, is a plantation house at 1201 Washington Avenue in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Built in the 1770s, it was the home of Fielding and Betty Washington Lewis and is the only surviving structure from the 1,300-acre (530 ha) Kenmore plantation.
The James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library is a historic museum at 908 Charles Street in Fredericksburg, Virginia. It is located on the site of the James Monroe Law Office, used by future United States President James Monroe from 1786 to 1789. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966. It is now owned by the Commonwealth of Virginia and operated by the University of Mary Washington. The museum features original objects and memorabilia related to James Monroe, and includes items relating to other members of his family, including dresses worn by First Lady Elizabeth Monroe.
The Court House Hill–Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located in Lynchburg, Virginia. The area is situated on a promontory overlooking the Lower Basin Historic District on the south bank of the James River. The approximately 50-acre (200,000 m2) district is composed of relatively intact city blocks of religious, commercial, residential, and governmental buildings and structures ranging in date from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century. Buildings in the district represent a variety of styles from the different periods, including the Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Neoclassical, Italian Renaissance, Spanish Eclectic, Craftsman, and Art Deco styles.

The Maywood Historic District is a national historic district located in Arlington County, Virginia. It contains 198 contributing buildings in a residential neighborhood located in the northern part of the county. The area was platted and subdivided in five sections between 1909 and 1913 following the arrival in 1906 of the Great Falls and Old Dominion Railroad. The area was primarily developed between 1909 and 1929. The dwelling styles include a variety of architectural styles, including Queen Anne, Colonial Revival foursquares, Bungalow, and two-story gable-front houses. Several dwellings in the neighborhood have been identified as prefabricated mail-order houses.

Holbrook–Ross Street Historic District is a national historic district located in Danville, Virginia. The district includes 107 contributing buildings in a primarily African-American neighborhood of Danville. It includes a full range of late 19th and early 20th century residential, commercial, and institutional structures. The majority of the houses are single-family dwellings that were built between 1880 and 1910, and includes notable examples of vernacular Italianate and Queen Anne styles. Notable buildings include the Williams House, Hargraves-Geary House, Tisden House, Leroy Johnson House, Broadnax Apartment, Calvary Baptist Church (1896), Holbrook Street Presbyterian Church, Loyal Baptist Church (1924), Wesley AME Church (1939), Westmoreland Middle School (1936), and the Annex Building (1925). Located in the district are the separately listed Hotel Danville and the Danville Municipal Building.
Idlewild, also known as the Downman House, was a historic home located at Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was built in 1859; a fire in April 2003 destroyed most of the interior and collapsed the roof. It was a 2+1⁄2-story, Gothic Revival-style brick dwelling with an English basement and an irregular "T" shape with a center passage plan. The house was topped by a steep slate gable roof. Also on the property at present are three contributing brick dependencies and a contributing pet cemetery. During the American Civil War, Idlewild became a prominent landmark on May 4, 1863, during battle action related to the Chancellorsville campaign. On that evening Confederate General Robert E. Lee used the house as his headquarters, after being initially occupied that day by Federal troops of the Union Sixth Corps.
Sentry Box is a historic home located at Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was built in 1786, and is a large two-story, five-bay, Georgian style frame dwelling with Colonial Revival and Greek Revival-style details. It has a central-passage plan and side gable roof. Also on the property is a contributing icehouse.
The Lewis Store, also known as the Fielding Lewis Store, is a historic commercial building located at Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was built in 1749, and is a two-story, front-gable, three-bay Georgian style brick store. The second story addition was built in 1808. The building was rehabilitated between 2000 and 2006. The first story consists of a "sales room" on the front and a "counting room" on the rear. The building functioned as a store until 1823, after which it was used as a residence. It was built by John Lewis and operated by him and his son, Fielding Lewis, who was married to George Washington's sister Betty Washington Lewis. Fielding and Betty Lewis built the nearby Kenmore. The Lewis family sold the store in 1776.
