Yaouri is a village and rural commune in Matameye Department in Niger.
Yaouri is located at the segue of the Sudan region to Sahel. The neighbouring communes are Matameye to the north, Dogo to the east, Bande to the southeast, Kwaya to the south, Sassoumbroum to the southwest and Kourni to the west. The commune area is divided into 28 administrative villages, 29 traditional villages, 40 hamlets and six camps. [1] The main town of the rural commune is the administrative village of Yaouri. [2]
The rural commune of Yaouri was organised during the 2002 administrative reform from the part of the territory of Kantche commune.
In the 2001 census, Yaouri had 24,793 inhabitants. In 2012, the commune had 50,732 inhabitants. [3] [4] Yaouri is home to Fula people subgroup of Daourawa, who mainly engage in agropastoralism. [5]
The community is located in the narrow zone along the border with Nigeria, stretching from Tounounga in the west to Malawa in the east, where irrigated agriculture for cash crops is practised. [6]
Diffa is a city and Urban Commune in the extreme southeast of Niger, near the border with Nigeria. It is the administrative seat of both Diffa Region, and the smaller Diffa Department. As of 2012, the commune had a total population of 56,437 people.

At the time of the 2012 census, the rural community had 23,567 residents living in 3,340 households. Onion cultivation is a chief source of income for many, along with the cultivation of lettuce, beans, squashes, and tomatoes.

The rural community of Tenhya was founded in 2002 as an administrative unit. The main ethnic groups are the Fulani subgroup Wodaabe and the Tuareg subgroups Ichiriffen, Imdan, Inesseliman, Kel Ates, Kel Iferwane and Ifoghas, mainly engaged in pastoral farming.

Torodi is a small town and a rural commune in Niger. As of 2012, it had a population of 109,342. As a rural center, Torodi hosts a large weekly market and the seat of local tribal authority (canton). Torodi is in the Say Department of the Tillaberi Region, which surrounds the national capital, Niamey. Say Department, with its capital at the large Niger River town of Say, abuts Niamey to the southwest and across the river to the west. The town of Torodi lies about 60 km due west of the city of Say and 50 km east of the border with Burkina Faso. Torodi itself lies on a tributary of the Niger, the Gourbi river.
Toumour is a village and rural commune in Niger located near the Niger–Nigeria border. As of 2011, the commune had a total population of 1336 people.
Matameye is a town and urban commune, administrative centre of the Matameye Department in Niger, with a total population of 64,988 as of 2012 with 27,615 living in the town. In 2005 a road was completed from Matameye to Takieta. Since 2011 many people have moved to Matameye from Tânout and Gouré because of the food crisis, in search for better harvests, abandoning their homes and schools.
