The 2025 season was the 18th season for the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. They were one of the ten teams competing in the 2025 Indian Premier League. They finished in tenth place in the previous season. [1]
The 2025 Indian Premier League is the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league held in India, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament features ten teams competing in 74 matches from 22 March to 25 May 2025 across 13 venues in India. [2]
Franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of six players from their squad, [3] [4] including a maximum of five recent international players. [5] Franchises were required to submit their retention lists before 31 October 2024. [6] Mumbai retained five players including captain Hardik Pandya, former captain Rohit Sharma and stand-in captain Rohit Sharma. [7]
The season's auction took place in November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. [8] The auction purse for each franchise was set at ₹120 crore (US$14 million), with franchises deducted an amount from the purse for every retained player. [9]
