Break the Ice (BTI) was a hardcore punk festival held in Melbourne, Australia in 2012, 2013, and 2014. It was run by Broken Hive Records and though short-lived, it was a significant event in the Australian hardcore calendar, attracting hundreds of punters each year. [1]
The festival began in 2012 as the feature date on the national tour for well-known band Trapped Under Ice. [2] Inspiration for the fest comes from similar styled multi-day hardcore punk festivals in the USA such as This Is Hardcore and Sound and Fury. [3] In 2013 the festival turned into a 2-day event with a more purposeful focus on other aspects of the hardcore music scene consisting of a trade market place, a bigger presence of local DIY labels, stalls selling vegan baked goods and an increased sense of community. [4] However, the subsequent 2014 event would be the last.

Rotting Out from the US were due to play day two of the 2013 lineup but pulled out and cancelled their Australian tour set for the same period for unannounced reasons. [5]

Bad Brains are an American rock band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977. They are widely regarded as among the pioneers of hardcore punk, though the band's members have objected to this term to describe their music. They are also an adept reggae band, while later recordings featured elements of other genres like funk, heavy metal, hip hop and soul. Bad Brains are followers of the Rastafari movement.
Australian hardcore punk bands tend to have local fan bases, although a number have toured Australia and internationally. Prominent bands from the scene that have been recognised by the mainstream have included Toe to Toe, Massappeal and Mindsnare, while many relative newcomers have enjoyed some commercial success due to the recent popularity of the genre. Many of these bands are currently very popular and are bringing some mainstream attention to the label "hardcore", Australian hardcore is played on the national Triple J network in the short.fast.loud program and on a number of local stations.
The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival was an annual festival held in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was a weekend-long concert of heavy metal and hardcore punk bands along with a merchandising and promotional area for record labels and other vendors. It had been held in the Palladium in Worcester since its inception in 1999.

Grade is a melodic hardcore band from Canada, often credited as pioneers in blending metallic hardcore with the hon and melody of emo, and - most notably - the alternating screaming/singing style later popularized by bands like Poison the Well and Hawthorne Heights. Formed in 1993, Grade found inspiration in the hardcore bands Integrity and Chokehold. By 1995, however, they had discovered Indian Summer and Rye Coalition and began developing the sound and style for which they'd become known.
Carpathian was an Australian hardcore band formed in 2003 in Melbourne. The band disbanded in 2011, with its final line-up comprising lead vocalist Martin Kirby, guitarists Josh Manitta and Lloyd Carroll, bass guitarist Ed Redclift and drummer David Bichard. Carpathian was made up of straight edge and non-straight edge members.
Ghostfest was an extreme metal and hardcore punk festival in Leeds, England that first took place at The Cockpit across two days in August 2005, returning in 2006. It brought together the UK's underground metal and hardcore music, along with metal and hardcore bands from Europe and America. There was no Ghostfest in 2007, but it returned every year from 2008 until 2015 and became a household name in the European indoor metal and hardcore scene, growing to ten times its original capacity since its inception in 2005 and selling out nearly every year in advance until 2015.

Resist Records is an independent record label and retail store based in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia. The store was opened by Toe To Toe vocalist, Scotty McFadyen in 1996 before expanding to a record label in 1998. Resist also hosts an annual hardcore punk fest, which has featured local and international hardcore bands.
Riot Fest is an annual 3-day music festival based in Chicago, Illinois at Douglas Park. Riot Fest specializes in rock, punk, alternative rock, and hip hop. The festival is known for booking reunions, guest performances, and full album performances. First started as a multi-venue festival in Chicago in 2005, Riot Fest has since become an outdoor festival starting in 2012, later expanding to Denver and Toronto.
Broken Hive Records is an Australian independent record label based in Sydney. The label caters predominantly for hardcore bands, although have released music and booked tours for bands that cross over into punk rock and metal. Broken Hive was formed by toy, who "will continue his work in hardcore music by booking international and local tours, managing and booking local bands, as well as releasing and distributing a variety of titles through the label." In 2011 the label released an extended play, Dream Strong by Sydney band Endless Heights. Since then the label has expanded to release records by many well known Australian hardcore bands, and is one of the go-to labels for fans of the hardcore genre.
Don Fury is an American recording engineer and producer who owned three rehearsal and recording studios in New York City. He has recorded and produced music for a variety of punk and hardcore bands including Agnostic Front, Sick of It All, Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, Madball, Warzone, Helmet, Into Another, and Quicksand. In 2008 Fury moved his studio to Troy, New York.
WSTR are an English pop punk band based in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Their lineup currently consists of vocalist Sammy Clifford, guitarist Tom "Boots" Hawkes and bassist Alex Tobijanski.
Fluff Fest is an independent hardcore punk festival held each July at the Czech town of Rokycany, near Plzeň. A significant event for the DIY music scene of the Czech Republic and the punk subculture of Europe, it is associated with movements such as veganism, anarchism, feminism, anti-fascism, and straight edge. It features an international lineup of bands from diverse punk rock genres including hardcore, crust punk, emo, and grindcore, as well as talks and zines. Catering is provided by local animal rights organization Svoboda zvířat.
