Conquest Racing is an auto racing team based in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. The team currently competes in the Ferrari Challenge North America and in the IMSA SportsCar Championship in both the GTD Pro and GTD classes. [1] [2] Previously, Conquest Racing competed in the IndyCar Series, Atlantic Championship, Champ Car World Series, and the GT World Challenge America. [3]
Conquest Racing is owned by former series competitor Éric Bachelart. The team started in Indy Lights in the late 1990s with drivers like Felipe Giaffone and the Menninga brothers. In 2002, they moved to the Indy Racing League with Laurent Rédon, who won Rookie of the Year. In 2003, the team switched to Champ Car with Mario Haberfeld and later Justin Wilson in 2004. The team expanded to multiple drivers in 2005–2006, including Nelson Philippe, Andrew Ranger, and Charles Zwolsman Jr.
Conquest also competed in Champ Car Atlantic with drivers Graham Rahal and Al Unser III. Sponsorship changes affected the team through 2007–2008, including partnerships with 42 Below and Opes Prime which later ended abruptly. During 2008–2011, the team participated in the IndyCar Series with drivers such as Franck Perera, Enrique Bernoldi, Alex Tagliani, Bruno Junqueira, Mario Romancini, and Sebastián Saavedra.
In 2012, Conquest Racing left IndyCar and entered the American Le Mans Series with a Morgan-Nissan LMP2, taking their first victory at the 2012 Grand Prix of Mosport. After a period of limited activity, the team returned in the IMSA Prototype Challenge in 2019 in the LMP3 category. [4]
