Forest is a town in Vernon County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 583 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Dilly, Mount Tabor, and Valley are located in the town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.0 square miles (93.1 km2), all of it land.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 583 people, 199 households, and 159 families residing in the town. The population density was 16.2 people per square mile (6.3/km2). There were 258 housing units at an average density of 7.2 per square mile (2.8/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.08% White, and 2.92% from two or more races.
There were 199 households, out of which 36.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.4% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.1% were non-families. 16.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.31.
