The Green Initiative (Spanish : Iniciativa Verde) was a Green political party in Argentina, founded in 2006. [1] It was primarily active in Buenos Aires. [2]
On 29 November 2010 its party status expired. [3]
Velasco had previously been Minister of Environment in the Buenos Aires City Legislature. [2] Prior to this, the Green Initiative had sought to promote environmentalist policies through alliances with other parties. [4] Although unsuccessful as a National Congress candidate, Velasco continued to be the party's spokesperson through 2011. [5] Nowadays is a legislator for the ARI party. [6]

The Federalist Party was the nineteenth century Argentine political party that supported federalism. It opposed the Unitarian Party that claimed a centralised government of Buenos Aires Province, with no participation of the other provinces of the custom taxes benefits of the Buenos Aires port. The federales supported the autonomy of the provincial governments and the distribution of external commerce taxes among the provinces.
Republican Proposal is a centre-right political party in Argentina. It is usually referred to by its abbreviation, PRO. The Federal Pact was a treaty first signed by the Argentine provinces of Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos and Santa Fe on 4 January 1831, for which a Federal military alliance was created to confront the Unitarian League. Other provinces would later join the treaty.

The Uruguayan Civil War, also known in Spanish as the Guerra Grande, was a series of armed conflicts between the leaders of Uruguayan independence. While officially the war lasted from 1839 until 1851, it was a part of armed conflicts that started in 1832 and continued until the final military defeat of the Blancos faction in 1904. Out of supporters of presidents Rivera and Oribe grew the Colorado Party and the National Party, both of which received backing and support from foreign sources, including neighboring Empire of Brazil, the Argentine Confederation, Buenos Aires Province as well as European powers, primarily the British Empire and the Kingdom of France, but also a legion of Italian volunteers including Giuseppe Garibaldi. Kirchnerism is an Argentine political movement based on populist ideals formed by the supporters of Néstor Kirchner and his wife Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who consecutively served as Presidents of Argentina. The Argentine Civil Wars were a series of civil conflicts of varying intensity that took place through the territories of Argentina from 1814 to 1853. Initiation concurrently with the Argentine War of Independence (1810–1820), the conflict prevented the formation of a stable governing body until the signing of the Argentine Constitution of 1853, followed by low frequency skirmishes that ended with the Federalization of Buenos Aires. The period saw heavy intervention from the Brazilian Empire that fought against state and provinces in multiple wars. Breakaway nations, former territories of the viceroyalty such as the Banda Oriental, Paraguay and the Alto Peru were involved to varying degrees. Foreign powers such as British and French empires put heavy pressure on the fledging nations at times of international war.
Federal Peronism, also known as Dissident Peronism and Menemism, are the informal names given to a conservative political alliance between Justicialist Party figures, currently identified mostly by its opposition to ruling Kirchnerism, the left-wing faction.
The Treaty of Defensive Alliance was a secret defense pact between Bolivia and Peru. Signed in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on February 6, 1873, the document was composed of eleven central articles, outlining its necessity and stipulations, and one additional article that ordered the treaty to be kept secret until decided otherwise by both contracting parties. The signatory states were represented by the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, José de la Riva-Agüero y Looz Corswaren, and the Bolivian Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary in Peru, Juan de la Cruz Benavente.
New Leadership is a minor political party in Argentina, founded in 1996 by Gustavo Béliz, a former member of the Justicialist Party. The party was founded to compete in the 1996 election in Buenos Aires, in which Béliz was candidate to Chief of Government (mayor). Following moderate successes in Buenos Aires, the party joined the Front for Victory of President Néstor Kirchner, and Béliz was Kirchner's Justice Minister until 2004, when he denounced the government and left Argentina to work in the Inter-American Development Bank in the United States.
Yolanda Ortiz was an Argentine doctor of chemistry. She was the first Secretary of Natural Resources and Human Environment of Argentina, appointed by then-president Juan Perón in 1973. She was the first woman to hold such a position in Latin America. She was also an advisor to the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation and of the Federal Council of the Environment (COFEMA).
The Argentine Green Initiative party was formed in 2006 and its members include former directors of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) like Greenpeace, and social or environmental activists who work in the city of Buenos Aires.
This year, for the first time, it will be participating independently in the elections, without forming alliances with other parties.
