The Green Party of Malaysia (Malay : Parti Hijau Malaysia) is a political party in Malaysia with an environmentalism focus. It was formed in 2010 as a virtual movement. [2] Founder Azlan Adnan's original intent was to empower and unite all Environmental NGOs (ENGOs) in Malaysia and to push the green agenda into the Malaysian political consciousness. [3] [4] The party is affiliated with Himpunan Hijau [5] with more than 80 NGO's. The party was initially anti-Barisan Nasional [6] but over the years have become more divergent and is more critical of both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan.

As of 2022, the party had not contested in any elections on the national and statewide level. [7] Abdul Razak Ismail announced the party would contest in the 2023 Selangor state election. [8] However, as of March 2024, the party had yet to have its registration approved. [9]

Tan Sri Noh bin Haji Omar is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who served as the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative for second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob from September 2021 to the collapse of the BN administration in November 2022 and the first term in the BN administration under former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi from March 2008 to April 2009, Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government from June 2016 to the collapse of the BN administration in May 2018, Chairman of the Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) from June 2020 to September 2021. He also served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tanjong Karang from April 1995 to November 2022. Hasanuddin bin Mohd Yunus is a Malaysian politician who has served as Chairman of the Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) since May 2023. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hulu Langat from May 2018 to November 2022. He was also Member of the Board of Directors of the Global Conference of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) from December 2019 to December 2021 and Vice Chairman of the Southeast Asian Parliamentarians Against Corruption (SEAPAC). He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), then component party of the Barisan Alternatif (BA) and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) opposition coalitions. He was also the Vice President of AMANAH.

The 2021 Sarawak state election, formally the 12th Sarawak general election, took place on 18 December 2021. This election was to elect 82 members of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly. The previous assembly was dissolved on 3 November 2021.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2018 Balakong by-election</span> Malaysian state legislative by-election

A by-election was held on 8 September 2018 for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Balakong. The seat became vacant after the death of the incumbent assemblyman, Eddie Ng Tien Chee on 20 July 2018 in a traffic accident on the Cheras–Kajang Expressway. Eddie Ng was a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the state ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. This was the second casual vacancy in the Assembly since the May 2018 general election after Sungai Kandis, which held a by-election in August 2018. The by-election will be held on the same day as the Seri Setia by-election. In the last 2018 general election, Ng defeated Barisan Nasional (BN)'s Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) candidate, Lim Chin Wah and Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), with a vote majority of 35,538.
