The Malaysian Chinese Association is a uni-racial political party in Malaysia that seeks to represent the Malaysian Chinese ethnicity; it was one of the three original major component parties of the coalition party in Malaysia called the Alliance Party, which later became a broader coalition called Barisan Nasional in Malay, or National Front in English.
The Democratic Action Party is a centre-left social democratic political party in Malaysia. As one of four component parties of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, it formed the federal government after defeating Barisan Nasional in the 2018 Malaysian general election, ending the party's 53 year-long stay in the opposition. However, before the coalition finished its first term, defections from partnering parties caused it to lose power after 22 months, culminating in the 2020 Malaysian political crisis. At the 2022 Malaysian general election, the PH coalition which the DAP was part of was returned to power again, albeit with a smaller majority leading it to form a unity government with political rivals.
Lim Kit Siang is a retired Malaysian politician. He was the longest-serving leader of the opposition in Malaysia, and held the position for a total of 29 years on three separate occasions. The Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia is a liberal political party in Malaysia. Formed in 1968, Gerakan gained prominence in the 1969 general election when it defeated the ruling Alliance Party in Penang and won the majority of seats in Penang's state legislature. In 1972, Gerakan joined the Alliance Party, which later became Barisan Nasional coalition Party (BN), the ruling coalition of Malaysia until 2018. The party left the BN in 2018 and is currently part of the Perikatan Nasional coalition Party (PN).

He was the Chief Minister of Penang from 1990 to 2008 and was appointed as a Senator; a member of the Dewan Negara, the upper house of the Malaysian Parliament. In April 2009, Koh was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister's Department by Prime Minister Najib Razak. He was famously known for contributing in the Sungai Pinang campaign where he took almost 10 years and failed to complete it.

He is the 9th President of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a major component party in Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition from 2010 until 2013. He held the post of Minister of Health from 2004 until 2008. He has also been a one-term Member of Parliament (MP) for Labis (2004-2008) and a 4-term Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Penggaram from 1986 to 2004.

The Love Malaysia Party is a Malaysian political party formed in August 6, 2009. Its members include former Gerakan vice-president and Member of Parliament Huan Cheng Guan, and former Sarawak State Assembly independent member for Ngemah seat; Gabriel Adit Demong. For the first time ever, the party contested the Sarawak state election, 2011 using its own logo after approval was given by the Election Commission. However, party lost its only seat, Ngemah, by 995 votes to Barisan Nasional, and their candidates were defeated in other seats such as Simunjan, Balai Ringin, Machan and Bekenu. Despite the defeat, PCM had contested in various seats in Penang and other states in Malaysia as well in the 13th General Elections.
Zairil Khir Johari is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Penang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tanjong Bunga since May 2018. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bukit Bendera from May 2013 to May 2018. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party, a component party of the PH coalition. In DAP, he served as the Assistant National Publicity Secretary from September 2013 to March 2022, State Vice Chairman of Penang since December 2013 and Parliamentary Spokesperson of Education, Science and Technology. He is the son of Khir Johari, former federal minister and prominent politician from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Alliance.

Youth Front Party is a Penang-based-opposition party in Malaysia. The party was originally founded in 2016 with Zahidi Zainul Abidin, the UMNO lawmaker as an advisor, and revived a few months later by Patrick Ooi. As the name suggests, it contested several seats in the then-opposition held state during the Malaysia General Election 2018 but also sent a candidate to Kuala Lumpur. However, they failed in their maiden electoral venture with all their candidates having lost their deposits.
