Joaquin Carlos "JC" Rahman A. Nava is a Filipino politician who serves as governor of Guimaras.
Nava was governor of the province of Guimaras from 1998 to 2007. [1] He returned as Guimaras governor after winning in the 2022 election. He succeeded Samuel Gumarin who launched a successful campaign to get elected mayor of the town of Buenavista in the same province. [2]
Nava is part of a political family. He is married to Maria Lucille Nava who served as Guimaras' representative in the House of Representatives while his brother Felipe "Nene" Nava is a provincial board member of the same province. [1]
Guimaras,officially the Province of Guimaras,is an island province in the Philippines located in the Western Visayas region. The capital is Jordan,while the largest local government unit for it is the municipality of Buenavista. The province is situated in Panay Gulf,between the islands of Panay and Negros. Alberto Arcega Villavert was a Filipino politician who led the Province of Antique between 1937 and 1946 both as an appointed and elected Governor. He was first elected as presidente municipal of Antique's capital town of San Jose de Buenavista in 1928 and was the youngest presidente municipal in his time at the age of 24 and then became governor of the province in 1937. Villavert became an Antique Representative of the National Assembly from 1943 to 1944. During World War II,he served in the USAFFE and subsequently appointed as Governor of the Province again from 1946 to 1947 and then elected and served the same post from 1948 to 1951.
