Davao del Norte,officially the Province of Davao del Norte,is a province in the Philippines located in the Davao Region in Mindanao. Its capital and largest city is Tagum. The province also includes Samal Island to the south in Davao Gulf.

The 2015 Palarong Pambansa was the 58th edition of the annual multi-sporting event for Filipino student-athletes. The games were held in Tagum,Davao del Norte from 3 to 9 May 2015. This is the first hosting of the Province of Davao del Norte,60 years after it hosted the Palarong Pambansa as part of the larger Davao province. Tagum hosts most of the venues and billeting centers while the municipalities of Carmen,Sto. Tomas,New Corella,and Kapalong,and the cities of Panabo and Samal Island provided additional billeting centers and venues for the delegates. The events were mostly held within the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex,including the opening and closing ceremonies.

Dennis Denora was a Filipino journalist and publisher best known for his weekly publication Trends and Times. He lived in Davao del Norte,Philippines,where he wrote about the history,events,and issues of the province. On June 7,2018,Denora was murdered by two motorcyclists while stuck in traffic with his driver Mayonito Revira.
Jayvee Tyron Lim Uy is a Filipino politician who currently serves as a Governor of Davao de Oro since 2016. Uy was only 31 years old when he was first elected governor of Davao de Oro,then named as Compostela Valley,in 2016 and was re-elected in 2019. He is also known as the youngest governor of Mindanao.
