Location

The nearest towns are Pandalam and Adoor. It is in the border of both Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta Districts.

Economy

Agriculture is the main occupation of people here. Like any other village in this part of Kerala, many of youth are working outside India in different sectors. This village is near 2 kilometers from KP Road (Kayankulam- Punaloor) near Pazhakulam and 3 kilometers from MC road (Main Central) near Kurampala.

Community life

St. Mary's Orthodox Church is one of the main religious institution here. Navodaya Art's and Sport's club, Navodaya Library and many other organisations are working here. The Onam celebrations on Thiruvonam day (the most important day of Onam) organised by Navodaya is the main celebrations here.

It is the largest circular road surrounding a ground in India.It is the second largest roundabout in the world.

Thrikkakara Temple

Thrikkakara Vamanamoorthy Temple is one of the few Hindu temples in India dedicated to Lord Vamana/Vishnu. It is situated in Thrikkakara, Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. Located around 10 km north-east of the city center between Thrissur-Ernakulam highway, Seaport-Airport Road, Cochin University of Science and Technology and Model Engineering College, it is a centre of celebrations and a place of origin for the popular Onam festival. Kallada River

The Kallada River is one of two major rivers that flow through the Kollam District of Kerala, India. Kallada River Is Also Known As Punalurar This River is formed by three Rivers, viz., Kulathupuzha, Chendurni and Kalthuruthy which join near Parappar in Thenmala by the side of the Trivandrum-Shencottah road. It travels for 121 km, flowing through Punalur, Pathanapuram, Kunnathur, Kulakada Pavithreswaram (Puthoor) and Kallada before ending at Ashtamudi Lake. The Palaruvi Falls also feeds Kallada river. The Chalikkari Aar also joins Kallada a little downstream. These two rivers flows westward and falls into the Ashtamudi Lake.

Puli Kali

Pulikkali is a recreational folk art from the state of Kerala, India. It is performed by trained artists to entertain people on the occasion of Onam, an annual harvest festival, celebrated mainly in the Indian state of Kerala. On the fourth day of Onam celebrations, performers painted like tigers and hunters in bright yellow, red, and black dance to the beats of instruments like Udukku and Thakil. Literal meaning of Pulikkali is the 'play of the tigers' hence the performance revolve around the theme of tiger hunting. The folk art is mainly practiced in Thrissur district of Kerala. Best place to watch the show is at Thrissur on the fourth day of Onam, where Pulikkali troupes from all over the district assemble to display their skills. The festival attracts thousands of people to the Thrissur city. Pulikkali is also performed during various other festive seasons.

Culture of Thrissur
