Perumbalam is an island village in Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala. [1] As of 2001 [update] India census, Perumbalam had a population of 9678 with 4711 males and 4967 females. [1] The village is situated upon an island in Vembanad lake. The island has a total land area of 6 square kilometers. It lies 600 meters to the west of the Ernakulam district of Kerala. Perumbalam will be connected with the mainland through the Perumbalam bridge, which is under construction as of December 2023.

The Perumbalam bridge, also known as Perumbalam-Panavally Bridge is a bow string arch bridge under construction in Alappuzha district in Kerala, India. It is being constructed across the Vembanad lake to connect the village island Perumbalam to the mainland Arookutty. The bridge will be having a length of 1100 m and is expected to be opened to public in 2024.
