Kingston is a town on the outskirts of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Nestled 12 km south of the city between and around several hills, Kingston is the seat of the Kingborough Council, and today serves as the gateway between Hobart and the D'Entrecasteaux Channel region, which meets the Derwent River nearby. It is one of the fastest-growing regions in Tasmania. The Kingston-Huntingfield statistical area had an estimated population of 13,473 in June 2021.
Margate is a small seaside town on the Channel Highway between North-West Bay and the Snug Tiers, 7 kilometres (4 mi) south of Kingston in Tasmania, Australia. It is mostly in the Kingborough Council area, with about 4% in the Huon Valley Council LGA. Margate is also part of the Greater Hobart statistical area.

Kingborough is classified as an urban local government area and has a population of 37,734, it covers the transition from the southern urban areas of Hobart through Kingston, as well as encompassing Bruny Island.

The federation oversees competitions across Tasmania, Tasmanian representative teams, and development of the sport in the state. The federation was known as the Tasmanian Soccer Association until 1996, when it was renamed to Soccer Tasmania. In line with national changes in March 2006, it became Football Federation Tasmania. In February 2019, the organisation became simply Football Tasmania.
The Derwent Entertainment Centre (DEC), now known commercially as MyState Bank Arena since 2021, is Tasmania's largest enclosed sporting venue and indoor arena, serving as Hobart's primary location for large indoor functions and events. Commissioned by the Tasmanian Government and the Glenorchy City Council, the DEC served as the home arena for the Hobart Devils in the NBL from 1989 until 1996, when the team's licence was revoked. Subsequently, between 1997 and 1998, ownership was transferred entirely to the City of Glenorchy, where it became a financial burden and incurred significant maintenance expenses for Glenorchy taxpayers, while seeing limited use. As the largest indoor venue in Tasmania since its inception in 1989, the DEC has hosted many Australian and international musical acts, including Kylie Minogue, Bob Dylan, Carole King, The Corrs, James Brown, Leonard Cohen, Tina Turner, Blondie and The Beach Boys.
Channel Court is a sub regional shopping centre located on the Channel Highway, Kingston, Hobart, Tasmania. Comprising an indoor outdoor complex, and standalone facilities, the centre is primarily anchored by Tasmania's largest Big W and a Woolworths supermarket, as well as Tasmania's only KaiserCraft store. The centre has a gross lettable area of 25,415 m2 (273,560 sq ft).
Kingborough Tigers Football Club is an Australian rules football club, based at Kingston, Tasmania that formerly competed in the Southern Football League in Tasmania before progressing to representation in the statewide Tasmanian State Football League (TSL) in 2014.

Craig Moller is an Australian professional basketball player for the South East Melbourne Phoenix of the National Basketball League (NBL). He is a former professional Australian rules footballer and spent three years in the Australian Football League (AFL) with the Fremantle Football Club. In 2016, Moller changed codes and joined the Sydney Kings of the NBL. In 2017, he joined Melbourne United. After two years with Melbourne, he returned to the Kings in 2019. He moved to Germany in 2021 after two more years at Sydney. He holds a German passport.
Mathiang Mauot Muo is an Australian-South Sudanese professional basketball player for the Joondalup Wolves of the NBL1 West. He played four seasons of college basketball in the United States between 2009 and 2013 before joining the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). He was a member of the Wildcats' 2014 championship-winning team but managed just 15 games over two seasons due to injury. Since parting ways with the Wildcats, Muo has had a successful state league career, playing in the SBL, SEABL, NBL1 and Queensland State League (QSL). He won an SBL championship with the East Perth Eagles in 2014 and a SEABL championship with the Hobart Chargers in 2018.
Nunawading Spectres is a NBL1 South club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is a division of Melbourne East Basketball Association (MEBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Spectres play their home games at Nunawading Basketball Centre.
The State Basketball Centre is a sports arena located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, used primarily for basketball. The stadium features 18 courts, including one basketball show court with seating for 3,200. The stadium houses the offices of Basketball Australia, Basketball Victoria, Knox Basketball Incorporated, South East Melbourne Phoenix and hosts WNBL games for the Southside Flyers, and previously the Melbourne Boomers. The stadium also hosts a select number of Phoenix home games each NBL season.

She played two seasons of college basketball in the United States for the San Diego Toreros before debuting in the WNBL for the Perth Lynx in 2015. After many seasons in the Australian state leagues, she returned to the WNBL in 2023 with the Southside Flyers.

In December 2021, the team was purchased by the owners of the Auckland Tuatara baseball team.
