Lallaguda is a suburb of Secunderabad, India. [1] It is about 7 km from the city center on the way to Malkajgiri. This area is predominantly known for its railway facilities operated by the Indian Railways. Multiple broad gauge rail lines traverse through this area, dividing it into North and South Lallaguda. Large parts of Lallaguda house railway employees in railway-built housing. Lallaguda also hosts a large hospital for railway employees; one of the largest railway repair and service yards in the country; and several campuses for railway employee support and training.

The Hyderabad Multi-Modal Transport System, also known as MMTS, is a suburban rail system in Hyderabad, India. It is a joint partnership of the Government of Telangana and the South Central Railway, and is operated by the latter. The first phase was opened to the public on 9th August 2003 with three lines between Falaknuma and Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Secunderabad and Lingampally and Secunderabad with a total of 44 km of track. In May 2010, Indian Railways decided to take up the 107-km Phase-II project of the MMTS at an estimated cost of Rs. 641 crore. The Railway Board cleared the second phase after the state government agreed to fund two-thirds of the cost. The second phase, which is currently under construction.

Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Duronto Express

The Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Duronto Express is a superfast AC express train of the Indian Railways, announced in 2011-12 Railway Budget by Mamata Banerjee, the then Minister of Indian Railways, connecting Secunderabad (SC) to Visakhapatnam (VSKP). It is the fastest way between the two cities and will consist of 18 coaches. The budget originally proposed the German engineered Linke Holfmann Bush coaches, designed for an operating speed up to 160 km/h and tested up to 180 km/h. However, due to a shortage of these LHBs, the train old rake of a Rajdhani express train was vinyl wrapped and given the duronto look. On 30 June 2012, the Indian Railways announced that the train will be flagged of on 6 July. It was however flagged off from Visakhapatnam on 12 July 2012.

Visakhapatnam - Secunderabad AC SF Express

The Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam Express is a superfast AC express train of the Indian Railways running between Secunderabad (SC) and Visakhapatnam (VSKP). It is handled by the South Central Railway (SCR). The train was announced in the 2014 Annual Railway Budget of India and it uses the rake of Secunderabad – Shalimar Express. The train stops at 13 stations en route, connecting major cities like Warangal, Vijayawada ,Eluru and Rajahmundry. The train runs weekly and is the first LHB AC train to be introduced on this route. The train was flagged off from Secunderabad on at 11:15 am on 19 January 2015 by Minister of State of Railways Suresh Prabhu. The locomotive links for this train have not been fixed yet but often the train is hauled by a Lallaguda based WAP 7 or WAP 4 locomotive between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam.
