Madhapur is a neighbourhood of Hyderabad, India. It is noted as a centre of information technology activity. The heart of this area is called HITEC City which has the highest concentration of IT/ITES establishments in the city. [1] Located in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana, It is administered as Ward No. 107 of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. [2] Madhapur is within 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) of the residential and commercial suburb of Jubilee Hills .
The entire city sits below 550m. The official elevation sits at about 576m. [3] In the southeast corner of the city, next to the Inorbit Mall, there is a lake named Durgam Cheruvu which is being destroyed by the construction activities in that area affecting the swans in the lake.
Madhapur has transformed from a small, rocky village in the early 1990s into a modern IT and BPO hub. [4] Madhapur has made its mark on the city map by having the highest concentration of IT/ITES companies in Hyderabad city. Top IT/ITES and Telco companies from all over the world are located in this suburb, fuelling the software and BPO businesses. Cyber Towers, Cyber Gateway and Cyber Pearl were the first IT structures to come up. Later on big names like Broadcom, Qualcomm, CSC, Tata Communications, Accenture, Tata Consultancy Services, Automatic Data Processing(ADP), NTT Data, Tech Mahindra, Prolifics Corporation, Deloitte, Amazon.com, Convergys, Oracle Corporation, IBM, Dell, Google, Verizon, CA Inc., Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, AppLabs, Invensys, Keane, Cognizant, Patni, Ram info solutions, Cyient, Capital IQ, Genpact, Novartis, Deloitte, Sitel India, Colruyt, Netcracker Technology and many others have made the city their business centre.
This suburb is also home to National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), [5] Sri Venkateshwara college of Architecture: Sri Venkateshwara college of Arts and pharmacy college, Manthan International School and CGR International school, which are leading new International Schools in Hyderabad.
Real estate is on the rise with big names such as Ramky Estates, Aparna, Aliens, Lanco Infratech and many others constructing skyscrapers, luxury homes, SEZs etc.[ citation needed ] Companies choosing Madhapur for their business ventures have made Madhapur an integrated and modern city.
Madhapur also has become the preferred meeting place, with many international conferences and meetings taking place at Hitex Convention Center and Hotel Novotel, Hotels like Westine, Lemon Tree, Trident and other business hotels in surrounding areas like Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills has enhanced the value of Madhapur over the last decade.
TSRTC, a state-owned bus service, connects Madhapur with other parts of the city. The bus numbers plying to Madhapur are 10H, 127K, 222A. Madhapur is served by MMTS train service, the station is HiTech City Station, which is a kilometer away. Taxis and autos shuttle between the station and the city. Hyderabad Metro Rail is also available at a distance.
Inner and outer ring roads are being developed to ease traffic during peak hours, and also to provide connectivity to the new Hyderabad International Airport near Shamshabad.

Sainikpuri is a residential neighbourhood in the northeastern part of Hyderabad City. It falls under Kapra mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri District, and is currently administered under GHMC East Zone. It started as a co-operative housing society venture for retired army personnel, but now has houses which belong to other defence services as well as civilians. Late Brig M. K Rao, Late Brig S.N.Docca and Late Lt. Col. Tiwari Singh were the first few to have got plots in the society and had a vision to develop the colony into an elite area. The housing plots originally allotted to the members of the Sainikpuri co-operative society were of the size of 700–1,000 square yards each. Owing to this reason, most residences have large lawns and gardens. Roads are well laid and numbered. Avenues are lined with a variety of flowering and fruiting trees, and are ideal for morning and evening walks. The sprawling cantonment area, as well as The College of Defence Management (CDM) which is a premier establishment of the Indian armed forces, are in the vicinity of Sainikpuri. The old buildings are now slowly giving way to multi-storied apartments, and it is becoming a costlier affair to acquire living space in this area.
The Hyderabad Information Technology and Engineering Consultancy City, abbreviated as HITEC City, is an Indian financial business district located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. HITEC City is spread across 81 ha of land under the suburbs of Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Miyapur, Nanakramguda, Serilingampally, Bachupally, Manikonda, Kukatpally and Shamshabad all the combined technology townships is also known as Cyberabad with a radius of 52.48 km (32.61 mi) surrounding approximate area of 6,100 ha. HITEC City is within 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) of the residential and commercial suburb of Jubilee Hills.
Malkajgiri also known as Mallikarjuna Giri is a suburb of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is located in Medchal–Malkajgiri district and also Sub-District in Medchal District is the headquarters of Malkajgiri mandal in Malkajgiri revenue division. Erstwhile Malkajgiri Major Grampanchayat was upgraded to a municipality in 1965 and became a municipal corporation in 1985. It was merged into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in 2007. It was a part of Ranga Reddy district before the re-organisation of districts in 2016.

Banjara Hills is an urban commercial centre and one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This is an upmarket locality close to Jubilee Hills. This area was a hilly forest and was least inhabited in the past. Only a few royal members of the Nizam's dynasty lived here, which was a hunting ground for them. This area now has completely been transformed to an urban commercial centre consisting of an array of high-end hotels, restaurants, night clubs and office buildings of global corporations. Banjara Hills is segregated by its road numbers, with each road having its own importance: the numbers run from 1 through 14.

Once upon a time, Hyderabad was known as City of Lakes. Some of these lakes are natural and various are manmade bodies. As per various sources only a few decades back, Hyderabad had a large number of water bodies such as lakes, reservoirs, rivers, streams, aquaculture ponds, tanks etc.. As per the data from National Remote Sensing Centre, between 1979 and 2023 there has been a reduction of 61% in city’s lake area. Area occupied by 56 lakes were examined and it was found that the total area of these lakes has shrunk from 40.35 km2 (15.58 sq mi) 16 km2 (6.2 sq mi). Most of these lakes have totally disappeared and the surface area of most of the surviving lakes have shrunken and turned to tiny ponds and cesspool. Some of the lakes which have totally disappeared are Tigal Kunta, Somajiguda Tank, Mir Jumla tank, Pahar Tigal Kunta, Kunta Bhawani Das, Nawab Saheb Kunta, Afzalsagar, Nallakunta, Masab Tank etc. Hussainsagar Lake, Kunta Mallaiyapalli have shrunk drastically. Out of thousands of water bodies those were existing in 1970s in various sizes in and around Hyderabad, today only about 70 to 500 of them have survived. Most of them have disappeared due to encroachment or have been illegally drained for real estate projects by private or government agencies. The existing lakes have been used to dump garbage and sewage water. Most of these lakes and tanks were built during the regime of Qutub Shah in 16th and 17th century and later by Nizams as a source of drinking water for the residents of Hyderabad. The area of Hussain Sagar, which is the largest lake in Hyderabad shrunk by more than 40% i.e. from 550 ha to 349 ha in just 30 years. This lake was built in 1575 AD and since 1930 is not being used as a source for drinking water.
Kondapur is a suburb in western part of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It falls under Serilingampally mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The locality has emerged as a prominent commercial and residential hub, owing to its close proximity to IT corridor of Hyderabad. Chennai is the largest hub for e-publishing, as there are 67 e-publishing units registered with the STPI and many Rs.8300-Cr data centers, digital hubs are in the process of development. A major reason for the growth of the Software industry are the top engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, of which Chennai is a major contributor, have been a major recruiting hub for the IT firms. According to estimates, these engineering colleges and universities consistently generate about 50 per cent of the human resource requirements for the IT and ITES industry was being sourced from the state, particularly from Chennai. The total employment in the Tamil Nadu’s technology sector crossed the one million mark in the quarter ended June 2022.
