Wilmington is a port city in and the county seat of New Hanover County in coastal southeastern North Carolina. With a population of 115,451 at the 2020 census, it is the eighth-most populous city in the state. Wilmington is the principal city of the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes New Hanover and Pender counties in southeastern North Carolina, which had a population of 285,905 in 2020.

Theresa Owana Kaʻōhelelani Laʻanui was a descendant of Kalokuokamaile, the eldest brother of Kamehameha I. She was a member of the House of Laʻanui, a collateral branch of the House of Kamehameha.

The Tabor-Loris Tribune is a weekly newspaper serving Tabor City, North Carolina and Loris, South Carolina in the southeastern United States. It was founded in 1946 by W. Horace Carter. In 1953 two journalists for the paper won a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service after a series of articles on the Ku Klux Klan that led to an FBI investigation, resulting in 254 convictions of Klansmen. The paper was renamed the Tabor-Loris Tribune in 2010 and has been cited by other organizations for its local news coverage.

The 1943 NC State Wolfpack football team was an American football team that represented North Carolina State University as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon) during the 1943 college football season. In its seventh and final season under head coach Williams Newton, the team compiled a 3–6 record and was outscored by a total of 229 to 78.

The Carolinian. formerly the Carolina Tribune, is an African-American newspaper published in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States.

The Denver Star (1888–1963), established as The Statesman and also known as Franklin's Paper, The Statesman, was an American weekly newspaper for the African American community. It was published in Denver, Colorado and was distributed in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and New Mexico.
