Nalanda College is a leading Buddhist school in Sri Lanka where provides primary and secondary education for Sri Lankan boys. The school was established by P. de S. Kularatne as an offshoot of Ananda College Colombo and was registered as a separate school on 1 November 1925.

Thotawattege Don Manuel Titus de Silva, popularly as Titus Thotawatte, was a Sri Lankan director and editor who made several popular Sri Lankan action movies in the 1960s and 1970s and later developed Sinhala children's programmes. Thotawatte died on 15 October 2011 in Colombo.

Habarakadage Alosius Perera, popularly as H. A. Perera, was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theatre, and television. He is considered one of five actors who have dominated the Sri Lankan Stage by critics.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dhamma Jagoda</span> Sri Lanakan actor (1941–1988)

Dhamma Jagoda was the first Head of the Drama Unit at the National Television channel Rupavahini Corporation in Sri Lanka. He was a pioneer theater and television play director and actor in Sri Lanka. He inaugurated the first theatre school at Lionel Wendt Art Centre, Colombo 7, in the 1970s and it was the foundation for many artists who have emerged in Sri Lanka in recent years. Dhamma Jagoda was educated at Mahinda College, Galle and Nalanda College, Colombo.

Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara Thera authored a book on Jayakody's life, මල් පැලේ උපන් පන්සලේ පියතුමා,, which is recorded as the first book in the world by a Buddhist prelate on a Catholic priest.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hanthana Mountain Range</span> Mountain range in Sri Lanka

The Hanthana Mountain Range lies in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, south-west of Kandy. It was declared as an environmental protection area in February 2010 under the National Environment Act. The maximum height of the range is 1,200 m (3,800 ft). The mountain range consists of seven peaks. The highest one being the Uura Kanda. The range is a favourite destination among the mountain hikers in Sri Lanka. University of Peradeniya is situated adjacent to the Hanthana mountain range.

Football in Sri Lanka is mainly played at a semi-professional and recreational level. Despite not being as well-regarded as the country's cricket team, football is the third biggest sport in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka national football team uses the 25,000-capacity Sugathadasa Stadium for their home games.

Future Minds Organised by the Junior Old Boys association of Nalanda College Colombo in collaboration with Government of Sri Lanka is an annual three-day Educational and Career Guidance Exhibition in Sri Lanka held annually at BMICH, Colombo. Kandy City Centre and Galle Municipal Council host secondary exhibitions for the same following the primary one in Colombo.

Gamini Atukorale was a former Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation Minister in Sri Lanka and former General Secretary and Deputy Leader of United National Party. Former member of parliament Thalatha Atukorale is the sister of Gamini Atukorale.

Soma Kumari Tennakoon was a Sri Lankan politician from the Kurunegala District. She was a former member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and served as a top member of the Wayamba Provincial Council representing the United People's Freedom Alliance. She also held the title of chairman of Laksala. At the time of her death, she was visiting Hambantota in order to help the Southern Provincial council elections. She was the daughter of Mudiyanse Tennakoon who was a member of parliament, from 1956 to 1977.

Felix Reginald Dias Bandaranaike II was a Ceylonese judge and lawyer. He was a Puisne Justice of the Supreme Court of Ceylon.

Don Ananda Weerakoon was a Sri Lankan actor.

Ranee Jayamaha also spelt as Rani Jayamaha is a Sri Lankan economist, author and banker. She served as the chairperson of Hatton National Bank from 2011 to 2015. In addition, she is currently an advisor to the President of Sri Lanka in Banking and a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (2004–2009). She has also served as a member of the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka and a member of Securities and Exchange Commission.

Priya Munasinghe was a Sri Lankan born Motor Racing champion, who dominated the regional Motor Sports scene of Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia from mid 1960s to 1977.

Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, also abbreviated as IBSL, is a professional apex body of banking education in Sri Lanka. It is one of the prominent institutes which carry out banking courses for the students and it is closely associated with Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The institute was formally established as the Bankers' Training Institute in 1964 by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Bankers' Training Institute was reincorporated in 1979 as Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka under the provisions of Parliament Act no 26 of 1979.

Abeykoon Mudiyansalage Yupun Priyadarshana, known as Yupun Abeykoon, also referred to as Yupun Priyadarshana, is a Sri Lankan track and field athlete and a national record holder in men's 100m, men's 200m and in men's indoor 60m. On 3 July 2022, he became the first South Asian to break the 10-Second barrier for the men's 100 meters event at the Resisprint International competition, with a timing of 9.96 seconds, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. He currently resides in Italy as he went on a scholarship to Italy in 2015. He is also attached to the Electronic and Mechanical Engineering Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army and represents Army Sports Club. He is currently regarded as the fastest Sri Lankan man as well as fastest South Asian man in men's 100m and 200m disciplines.
