Dechrau Canu, Dechrau Canmol is a television series featuring congregational Christian singing in the Welsh language. Currently broadcast by the Welsh-language television channel S4C, it is one of the longest-running television programmes on any British television channel, the first edition having been broadcast by the BBC from Trinity Chapel, Swansea, on 1 January 1961. The programme inspired the creation of the similar English-language series Songs of Praise, which began later in the same year.

Sali Mali is a popular Welsh children's book and television character, originally created by author Mary Vaughan Jones and illustrated by Rowena Wyn Jones during the 1960s and 1970s. Many Welsh-speaking children learnt to read by reading Sali Mali books.

Fflur Dafydd is a Welsh novelist, singer-songwriter and musician. Though mainly publishing in Welsh, she also writes in English. She contributes regularly in Welsh to Radio Cymru.

Michael "Meic" Povey was a Welsh screenwriter, director and actor in Welsh and English language roles, considered to be one of Wales's leading playwrights and screenwriters. He was also one of the co-creators of the long running soap opera Pobol y Cwm.

Tara Bethan Williams is a Welsh actress, singer and presenter.

<i>Hinterland</i> (TV series) Welsh police procedural TV series (2013–2016)

HinterlandY Gwyll in the original Welsh language version — is a Welsh noir police procedural series broadcast on S4C in Welsh. The main character, DCI Tom Mathias, is played by Richard Harrington. On 27 November 2013, a second series was announced by S4C. The English-language version, with brief passages of Welsh dialogue, aired on BBC One Wales. When it was shown on the BBC in 2014, it was the first BBC television drama with dialogue in both English and Welsh. A third series of the show began filming in January 2016 and debuted on S4C on 30 October.

Caryl Parry Jones is a Welsh singer, actress and presenter. She was born in the Flintshire village of Ffynnongroyw and attended Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St. Asaph, but now lives in Cowbridge, in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Dal Ati is a series of Welsh language television programmes broadcast on S4C to help Welsh speakers and learners gain confidence in the language. It was launched at the 2014 National Eisteddfod of Wales. The series consists of two programmes, each an hour long, broadcast on Sunday mornings. The first series began on 28 September 2014.

<i>Heno</i> Welsh television magazine

Heno is a Welsh television magazine and chat show programme. Broadcast live on S4C weeknights at 7:00 pm, it features topical stories and studio guests. Various reporters also assist with subject-specific presenting, both in the studio and on location or through filmed segments. Its afternoon sister programme is called Prynhawn da.

Gareth Finlay Williams was a Welsh language author who wrote novels for children and adults, as well as creating many television drama series.

<i>Y Byd yn ei Le</i> Welsh TV series or programme

Y Byd yn ei Le is a Welsh television current affairs series broadcast on S4C since 2018. It was presented by the former BBC Chief Political Correspondent, Guto Harri, until 2022.

John Gwilym Jones was a Welsh dramatist, novelist, short-story writer, drama director, academic and critic, considered a pre-eminent figure in those fields. In particular, he is widely acknowledged to be one of the two greatest 20th-century Welsh playwrights, along with Saunders Lewis; of his many plays, Hanes Rhyw Gymro (1964), Ac Eto Nid Myfi (1976) and Yr Adduned (1979) are considered masterpieces. Almost all of his work was written in the Welsh language. A writer in the modernist tradition, he is credited with introducing Brechtian techniques, stream-of-consciousness narrative and Freudianism to Welsh literature. Creative writers such as Kate Roberts and John Rowlands owed him a profound debt, and a whole generation of critics were influenced by his work as a teacher of Welsh literature.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mared Williams</span> Welsh singer-songwriter

Mared Williams, known professionally as Mared, is a Welsh singer-songwriter from Llannefydd, north Wales. She won the 2021 Welsh Language Album Award and has won two Y Selar Awards.

Emma Walford is a Welsh actress, singer and broadcaster. She is best known as a member of the girl group 'Eden' and as a presenter for the S4C reality show Priodas Pum Mil.
