The Trondheim Fjord or Trondheimsfjorden, an inlet of the Norwegian Sea, is Norway's third-longest fjord at 130 kilometres (81 mi) long. It is located in the west-central part of the country in Trøndelag county, and it stretches from Ørland Municipality in the west to Steinkjer Municipality in the north, passing the city of Trondheim on its way. Its maximum depth is 617 metres (2,024 ft), in the channel between Orkland Municipality and Indre Fosen Municipality.

Gauldal or Gauldalen is a valley and traditional district in Trøndelag county, Norway. The river Gaula runs through the 145-kilometre (90 mi) long valley from the mountains in Røros Municipality near the lake Aursunden to the Trondheimsfjorden. The narrow valley runs northwards from Røros to the Haltdalen area, where it widens some, turns and heads generally to the west to the village of Støren. At Støren it turns again and heads north through what is now a wide, agricultural valley until it reaches the sea just south of the city of Trondheim. The Rørosbanen and Dovrebanen railway lines follow the Gauldalen valley on their way to Trondheim. The European route E6 highway and the Norwegian County Road 30 also follow the valley.

The Gaula River, or Gola River, is a river in India originating in the Lesser Himalayas. It is approximately 500 km (310 mi) long. The river is also known by the names of Kichha and Baigul in its lower course. It originates in the Paharpani Village of Uttarakhand state, and flows south past Kathgodam, Haldwani, Kichha and Shahi, finally joining the Ramganga River about 15 km (9.3 mi) northwest of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, Ramganga in turn is a tributary of the river Ganges. It is mainly a spring fed river; this river is source of water for Haldwani and Kathgodam. A beautiful dam exists over this river in Kathgodam.

It begins in Setesdalsheiene mountains at the lake Breidvatnet in Bykle municipality in Agder county, just south of the border with Vinje municipality in Telemark county. The river then flows south through Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Evje og Hornnes, Iveland, Vennesla, and Kristiansand municipalities. The river empties into the Skagerrak in the center of the city of Kristiansand on the southern coast of Norway.

The Gaula is a river that flows through the Gauldal valley in Trøndelag county, Norway. The 153-kilometre (95 mi) long river is the largest in Central Norway. The river begins in Holtålen Municipality near the mountain Kjølifjellet. It then flows through Holtålen Municipality, Midtre Gauldal Municipality, and Melhus Municipality before emptying into Trondheimsfjord near Leinstrand on the border between Trondheim Municipality and Melhus Municipality.

Samsjøen is a lake in Trøndelag county, Norway. The 10-square-kilometre (3.9 sq mi) lake sits on the border of Midtre Gauldal Municipality and Melhus Municipality. Most of the lake lies in Midtre Gauldal Municipality, about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the village of Singsås. The lake has a dam at the northwest end, which is used for hydroelectric power production. The water flows out of the lake and into the Lundesokna river which flows into the river Gaula.

The Gaula is a river located in the Sunnfjord region of Vestland county, Norway. The 63-kilometre (39 mi) long river is the central part of the Gaularvassdraget watershed basin which covers about 626 square kilometres (242 sq mi) across the municipalities of Sunnfjord and Sogndal. The river is a good salmon fishing river. The river runs across the whole municipality of Gaular, and the river is the namesake of the municipality.

The 2009 Tour of the Basque Country, the 66th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country stage cycling race, started on 6 April and ended on 11 April 2009. The race was won by Alberto Contador, making this his second Tour of the Basque Country victory in a row. The race was the sixth event in the inaugural UCI World Ranking series.

Gulfoss Tunnel is a 701-meter (2,300 ft) railway tunnel situated in the municipality of Melhus in Trøndelag county, Norway. The tunnel runs beneath the village of Hovin, alongside the river Gaula past the Gulfossen waterfall. The tunnel carries a single, electrified track of the Dovrebanen railway line. The Trondhjem–Støren Line, which opened in 1864, crossed the river Gaula on a bridge to the opposite side of the river at the current site of the tunnel. This section of track was a challenge due to regular flooding. With the 1908 decision to build the Dovrebanen Line and gauge conversion, the Gulfossen section became one of two parts of the line to be reworked. Gulfoss Tunnel opened on 6 July 1918.
