Heinrich Flagge der Hansestadt Lubeck.svg Lübeck The ship struck ice and was consequently beached at "Surophead" She was on a voyage from Lübeck to Reval, Russia. [3]

AlertCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The ship ran aground on the Herd Sand, in the North Sea off County Durham. She was on a voyage from Newport, Monmouthshire to South Shields, County Durham. [4] Alert was refloated on 9 April and taken in to South Shields, where she was beached after her cargo had been discharged. [5]

Green Isle Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The paddle steamer was in collision with Manchester (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom ) and was beached at "Red Noses", Liverpool. Green Isle was on a voyage from Drogheda, County Louth to Liverpool, Lancashire. She was subsequently repaired and returned to service. [23] [24]
James MorganCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The ship was in collision with Montcalm (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom ) in the Atlantic Ocean ( 39°N47°W / 39°N 47°W / 39; -47 ) and foundered with the loss of eight of her nine crew. The survivor was rescued by Montcalm. James Morgan was on a voyage from Jamaica to Cork. [25] [26]

PhœnixCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The sloop was driven ashore and wrecked at Thurso. Her crew were rescued. She was on a voyage from Brora, Sutherland to Liverpool. [27] [17]

ArdentFlag of Denmark.svg  Denmark The ship was run down and sunk near Gibraltar by Nautilus (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom ). Ardent was on a voyage from Copenhagen to Tarragona, Spain. [15]
HeroCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The steamship foundered in Liverpool Bay. All on board were rescued by the steamship Druid (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom ). [17] [30]
JamesCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The ship was driven ashore in the Humber at Winteringham, Lincolnshire. She capsized and was swept downstream and sank. Her crew survived. [30]
MaryCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The ship foundered in the Irish Sea 10 nautical miles (19 km) south of Caldey Island, Glamorgan. Her crew were rescued by Star (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom ). Mary was on a voyage from Gloucester to Dublin. [32]

Countess of PembrokeCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The steamship was in collision with the steamship Mermaid (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom ) in the River Avon and was beached. [3]
Fairy Flag of the United Kingdom.svg New South Wales The cutter foundered off Cape Hawke before 30 April. [34]
MarysCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The ship was in collision with Scotia (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom off Elsinore, Norway and was beached. She was later refloated and taken in to Elsinore. [29]
NileCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The ship foundered in the North Sea off Heligoland before 15 April. [3]
Pilate Austria-Hungary-flag-1869-1914-naval-1786-1869-merchant.svg Austrian Empire The brig was abandoned whilst on a voyage from Alexandria, Egypt Eyalet to Candia, Crete. Plague had broken out on board, killing most of the crew. [35]
