Mount Vernon is a neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, located immediately north of the city's downtown. It is named for George Washington's Mount Vernon estate in Virginia, as the site of the city's Washington Monument.

The Cathedral Hill Historic District is an area in Baltimore, Maryland. It lies in the northern part of Downtown just south of Mount Vernon. Roughly bounded by Saratoga Street, Park Avenue, Hamilton Street, and St. Paul Street, these 10 or so blocks contain some of the most significant buildings in Baltimore. The area takes its name from the Basilica of the Assumption which sits in the heart of the district. Despite the number of large religious structures in the area, the district's buildings are primarily commercial in character, with a broad collection of significant commercial structures ranging in date from 1790 to 1940.
There are 77 properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Albany, New York, United States. Six are additionally designated as National Historic Landmarks (NHLs), the most of any city in the state after New York City. Another 14 are historic districts, for which 20 of the listings are also contributing properties. Two properties, both buildings, that had been listed in the past but have since been demolished have been delisted; one building that is also no longer extant remains listed.
The I.O.O.F. and Barker Buildings were a pair of historic commercial buildings located in downtown Mount Vernon, Indiana, United States. Constructed at the end of the nineteenth century, the two were once prominent examples of Victorian architecture in the city.
The Mount Vernon Triangle Historic District is a historic district in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood of Washington, D.C., consisting of 22 contributing residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, and one known archaeological site. The area was once a working class neighborhood for mostly German immigrants and home to semi-industrial enterprises such as a dairy and an automobile repair shop. The Northern Liberty Market that once stood on the corner of 5th Street and K Street NW played a large role in spurring development in the surrounding area as did the streetcars on Massachusetts Avenue and New York Avenue.
The Central City Commercial Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Central City, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. At the time of its nomination it consisted of 27 resources, which included 18 contributing buildings, one contributing object, and eight non-contributing buildings. The historic district exemplifies the importance transportation played in the development of the central business district.
Mount Vernon Springs Historic District is a national historic district located near Bonlee, Chatham County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 23 contributing buildings, 3 contributing sites, and 7 contributing structures in the rural village of Mount Vernon Springs. The village grew up near a locally famous mineral spring. Notable buildings include the Greek Revival style Female Dormitory of the Baptist Academy (1855), Gothic Revival style Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church (1885), the John C. Kirkman House, Robert P. Johnson House, and John M. Foust House. Also located in the district are the Mt. Vernon Springs, the Baptist Academy Cemetery, and the Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Mount Vernon Triangle is a neighborhood and community improvement district in the northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. The neighborhood is located adjacent to Mount Vernon Square. Originally a working-class neighborhood established in the 19th century, present-day Mount Vernon Triangle experienced a decline in the mid-20th century as it transitioned from residential to commercial and industrial use.
Mount Vernon Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located at Mount Vernon, Posey County, Indiana. The district encompasses 39 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, 1 contributing structure, and 2 contributing objects in the central business district of Mount Vernon. It developed between about 1850 and 1953, and includes notable examples of Italianate, Queen Anne, Romanesque Revival, and Classical Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Posey County Courthouse Square. Other notable contributing resources include the McFadin Cemetery, Sherburne Park, the Armory (1922), the Alexandrian (Carnegie) Library (1905), City Hall (1893), Fogas Building (1880), Eagles Home (1917), Palace Soda Shop, Memorial Coliseum (1925), and the Opera House (1879).
The McClanahan Block is a historic building located in Iowa Falls, Iowa, United States. The city experienced a devastating fire in 1874, and most of the buildings on this block were built after the fire giving them a commonality of design. This two-story commercial building, completed in 1913, stands out given its polychrome brick and the simplicity of its design. Its decorative elements are found in the patterns created on its surface utilizing the bricks. At the time this building was constructed, Washington Avenue was paved and cement sidewalks replaced their wooden predecessors.
The Pleasant Lawn School Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located northeast of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. At the time of its nomination it consisted of three resources, all of which are contributing buildings. This is the only intact example of a consolidated rural school district in Iowa. It consists of a two-story brick school building (1917), a two-story frame teacherage (1917), and a hack barn. A gymnasium was added to the school building in 1941. The school was still in existence when the buildings were added to the National Register.
The Marion Commercial Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Marion, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. At the time of its nomination it consisted of 41 resources, which included 29 contributing buildings, one contributing site, one contributing structure, two contributing objects, and eight non-contributing buildings. The historic district covers the city's central business district. The development of this area largely occurred when Marion was the county seat of Linn County (1838-1919). There are no county government buildings extant from this era. The city was also a division point for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The Ash Park Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. At the time of its nomination it consisted of 42 resources, which included 32 contributing buildings and 10 non-contributing buildings.
The Cornell College-Mount Vernon Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The district embraces the campus of Cornell College and the residential area that surrounds it. It is composed of 120 buildings and structures, of which 70 are residential. There are also a couple of churches on the east side of the district, and an old hotel was converted into apartments.
The Mount Vernon Commercial District in Mount Vernon, Kentucky is a 5 acres (2.0 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It runs along Main St. from Church to Richmond Sts. and included 22 contributing buildings.
The Sand Hills Historic District in Augusta, Georgia is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. The district included 334 contributing buildings and a contributing site in a 231 acres (0.93 km2) area roughly bounded by Monte Sano and North View Aves., Mount Auburn St., Johns Rd., and the Augusta Country Club.
The Lisbon Main Street Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Lisbon, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. At the time of its nomination it consisted of 15 contributing buildings along most of the 100 blocks of East and West Main Street in the central business district. The city was settled by German immigrants who were affiliated with the United Brethren Church. They recruited others from their home area to settle here as well. The railroad was built through town in 1859, and commercial development began thereafter. Most of the historic buildings were constructed between 1875 and 1899 with the Lisbon Library being the oldest.
The Adams R., Frederick L. and Martha (Taylor) Knott House, also known as the Col. Frank W. Hart House and the Rev. James and Jessie N. Hughes House, is a historic building located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, United States. It is significant for its association with the settlement of the city that was influenced by the establishment of the Military Road, its use of locally made brick and locally quarried limestone, and its vernacular architectural techniques. Adams and Frederick Knott were brothers who were originally from Ohio and they settled in Mount Vernon in 1854 after living briefly in other locations in eastern Iowa. They bought a building and dry goods store from Oliver Day, an early pioneer merchant. Their brother Abraham joined them in the business by 1859. Frederick and Adams had this house built around 1857 in Saxby's Addition to Mount Vernon. They shared the house, along with Frederick's wife Martha and daughter Ida. The brother's business partnership dissolved and they sold the house in 1861. The two-story, side-gabled brick house features Early Republic stylistic influences. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
The Martin L. and Mary Jane (Yount) Shantz House is a historic building located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, United States. It is significant for being constructed of locally made brick and locally quarried limestone, and its Late Victorian architectural influences. It was built in 1882 on two lots in Saxby's Addition to Mount Vernon. The house is a two-story, L-shaped brick structure with a low-pitched hip roof, wide eaves, tall windows that enhance its verticality, and a three-sided bay window. It is a vernacular expression of Late Victorian stylistic influences. The house lacks elaborate exterior decorative elements and a substantial front porch at a time when they were popular. This either reflects the Shantz's preferences or a lack of finances to include them. The bricks used in its construction were more than likely from the G.W. Robinson brickyard, the main brick and lime manufacturer in Mount Vernon at the time. Shantz's blacksmith shop was also located on the property. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
