Mystic Ballet began in 1997 as a small group of students. In the years since then, the company has engaged close to 450 affiliates, including 185 performing artists from close to 40 different countries.[ citation needed ]
With support from the National Endowment of the Arts, Connecticut Office of the Arts, and Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, the company has toured regionally in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and internationally to Germany, Japan, Serbia, Brazil, and Nicaragua.
In 2012, Mystic Ballet commissioned Gabrielle Lamb to create work which performed in collaboration with Gabrielle Lamb and Dancers and Mystic Ballet at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival as part of its Inside Out Series. [1] For the 2013 Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival - Inside Out Series, Mystic Ballet commissioned Laura Edson to create works Sun and Steel and Imaginary Love which performed by Mystic Ballet company dancers. The one work was performed by Laura Edson + Dancers Company. [2] In the August 14, 2013 at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival - Inside Out Series, Mystic Ballet performed Swan Lake. [3]
On September 26, 2009 Mystic Ballet and Goran Subotic were publicly recognized by the State of Connecticut, “In recognition of the ongoing contribution to the cultural and artistic life of the region. The extraordinary talent and creative genius of Goran Subotic and the Mystic Ballet have brought a new dimension of beauty to our community and our state.” [4]
In 2015 Mystic Ballet opened its performing venue in Mystic Dark Room in Stonington CT.
Mystic Ballet's performance programs and touring are supported by National Endowment for the Arts, Art Works, The Connecticut Office of the Arts, and The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.

Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) is an American professional ballet company and school based in Harlem, New York City. Jean-Léon Destiné was a Haitian-born American dancer and choreographer. He was born in Saint-Marc and moved to the United States with the dance company of Lina Mathon-Blanchet in the early 1940s. He later studied at Howard University. His work, becoming well known in the 1940s, often addressed Haiti's history of resisting colonialism and slavery. He also danced with Katherine Dunham's company and founded a national dance company in Haiti in the late 1940s. Destiné is known as the father of Haitian professional dance.
3e étage is a dance company founded in 2004 by dancer-choreographer Samuel Murez, and based in Paris, France. 3e étage dancers are all members of the Paris Opera Ballet, but the administrative and artistic direction are entirely independent from that company. 3e étage receives no subsidies, and operates entirely on income from performance sales to theaters, ticket sales of self-produced performances, and the support of private benefactors.

Blakeley White-McGuire born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a dancer, choreographer, répétiteur, and educator. She is a Principal Guest Artist and former Principal Dancer of Martha Graham Dance Company. Described by Gia Kourlas of the New York Times as having a "powerful technique and dramatic instinct with an appealing modern spunk", White-McGuire has received widespread critical acclaim as a Graham dancer.
Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater is an American Spanish-dance company in residence at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. The Ensemble Español consists of the professional dance company, touring nationally and internationally throughout the year, as well as the youth company. The Ensemble Español provides arts education programming to students across Chicago, runs community outreach programs/workshops, offers college level dance courses at Northeastern Illinois University, and produces the annual American Spanish Dance and Music Festival.
