He was a Kurdish poet and translator, who is considered to be one of the greatest Kurdish poets in the Kurdish classical period mainly because of his contribution to the Sorani school of poetry.

Salim is the pen name for Abdul-Rehman Begi Saheb-Qiran the nineteenth century Kurdish poet. Known by his pseudonym as Salim or Salem, he was born around 1800 in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan and died 1866. He is one of the most significant classical Kurdish poets who wrote in Central Kurdish. He was the uncle of Nalî and the cousin of Kurdî, two other famous poets. He died in 1866 in Sulaymaniyah.

The Bhimnali Massacre was a massacre of 15 Bengali Hindus in Bhimnali, Barisal by Pakistani forces. On 22 May 1971 local collaborators attacked the village of Nali in Barisal district of Bangladesh. The Bengali Hindu villagers resisted with spears and shields. However, they were soon overpowered by the collaborators, who shot dead 15 villagers.

Mustafa Bag Sahebqran with pen name of Kurdi was a nineteenth century Kurdish poet. Along with Nali and Salem, he is among the founders of Babani school of poetry, which was in Central Kurdish. He lived around the same time as Nali and Salem and was from Sulaimaniyah as well. He was born in 1806 or 1812 and died in 1850.
