Buena Vista is an independent city located in the Blue Ridge Mountains region of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,650. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the independent cities of Buena Vista and Lexington, along with surrounding Rockbridge County, for statistical purposes.

Formerly known as Pea Ridge, the city changed its name to Buena Vista in honor of Zachary Taylor's victory in the Mexican–American War. The city is the county seat of Marion County. It is the birthplace of baseball legend Josh Gibson and Medal of Honor recipient Luther H. Story.
Hacienda Buena Vista, also known as Hacienda Vives, was a coffee plantation located in Barrio Magueyes, Ponce, Puerto Rico. The original plantation dates from the 19th century. The plantation was started by Don Salvador de Vives in 1833.

The Chesterfield County Courthouse and Courthouse Square is a historic county courthouse complex located at Chesterfield, Virginia. The complex includes the old Chesterfield County Courthouse, built in 1917; the county clerk's office buildings, dating from 1828 and 1889; and the old Chesterfield County Jail, constructed in 1892 and closed in 1960. The 1917 courthouse is a one- and two-story red brick structure, fronted by a full-height portico, and topped by an octagonal belfry, in the Colonial Revival style.

Notable buildings include the Buena Vista Post Office (1930), Buena Vista War Memorial Building (1954), Peoples Bank of Buena Vista (1907), Dickinson Building, Royer's Restaurant, the Advocate Building (1889), Buena Vista Masonic Building, and the Valley Steam Laundry Building. Southern Seminary Main Building, originally known as the Hotel Buena Vista and now Main Hall of Southern Virginia University, is a historic hotel building located at Buena Vista, Virginia. It was built in 1890, and is a 3 1/2-story, brick and frame building in an eclectic combination of Queen Anne and French Renaissance style architecture. It features a steep slate covered gable roof, round towers with conical and domical roofs, three-level wooden galleries, and Palladian windows. By 1907, the building was known as the Southern Seminary Main Building, after consolidation of three campuses of that school.
Buena Vista Colored School is a historic school building for African American children located at Buena Vista, Virginia. It was built in 1914, and expanded in 1926. It is a one-story, brick structure with a hipped, sheet metal roof. Also on the property is a contributing brick outbuilding once used to store wood and coal. The building served as the only local school for African American children in grades 1–7 from 1914 to 1957. The Buena Vista Colored School Historical Society was organized in 2002 to restore the school as a museum and community center.
The Old Clarke County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse complex located at Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia. The complex includes the Old Clarke County Courthouse, built in 1837; the original county clerk's building, dating from the 1880s; and a two-story building built about 1900 and containing the Sheriff's office and county jail. The former courthouse is a two-story, red brick temple-form structure, fronted by a full-height Tuscan order portico in the Roman Revival style. The building served as the county's courthouse until 1977, when a new courthouse was erected. It was subsequently designated the General District Courts Building.

The courthouse is a T-shaped, Federal style brick building constructed in 1792–1795. Associated with the courthouse are the clerks office (1859), the former jail and later sheriffs office, "Old Jail," and Mathews County Library (1930). Several monuments occupy the square, notably the Confederate monument, the 1928 Fort Cricket Hill monument, and a World War I cannon.

The complex consists of the county courthouse, old clerk's office (1825–1826), VPI Extension office, the Commonwealth Attorney's office, the Commissioner of Revenue's office, a storage building, a Confederate memorial, and general district court building. The county courthouse building was built in 1923, and is a two-story, seven bay, Classical Revival style brick building. It features a hexastyle Ionic order portico that dominates its front facade.
Greensville County Courthouse Complex is a historic courthouse complex located at South Main Street between Hicksford Avenue and Spring Street in Emporia, Virginia. The three contributing buildings are the two-story, porticoed courthouse built in 1834, the clerk's office built in 1894, and the former Greensville Bank Building, now the county administrator's office, in 1900 and 1907. The courthouse originally took a Palladian form, but was remodeled between 1907 and 1910 to take a Beaux-Arts appearance. The clerk's office was considerably enlarged in 1916 and the Georgian-style facade added in 1961. The interior of the county administrator's office features elaborate pressed-tin walls and ceilings manufactured by the local concern, H.J. Klugel. The buildings are set upon the courthouse square, which includes a cannon honoring residents who participated in World War I, and a Confederate monument.

The county seat was moved in 1850 to what is now Buena Vista, Georgia. The site is commemorated with a historical marker. The building has also served as Marion Lodge No. 14 F. & A.M..
Buena Vista is a historic plantation house located in Roanoke, Virginia. It was built about 1840, and is a two-story, brick Greek Revival style dwelling with a shallow hipped roof and two-story, three-bay wing. The front facade features a massive two-story diastyle Greek Doric order portico. Buena Vista was built for George Plater Tayloe and his wife, Mary (Langhorne) Tayloe. George was the son of John Tayloe III and Anne Ogle Tayloe of the noted plantation Mount Airy in Richmond County and who built The Octagon House in Washington D.C.. The property was acquired by the City of Roanoke in 1937, and was used as a city park and recreation center.
Museo Hacienda Buena Vista is a historic coffee plantation farm museum in Barrio Magueyes, Ponce, Puerto Rico. The museum opened in 1986, and receives some 40,000 visitors a year. The museum has been described as "Puerto Rico's first living museum of art and science."
