Amsterdam is the capital and most populated city of the Netherlands, with The Hague being the seat of government. It has a population of 921,402 within the city proper, 1,457,018 in the urban area and 2,480,394 in the metropolitan area. Located in the Dutch province of North Holland, Amsterdam is colloquially referred to as the "Venice of the North", for its large number of canals, now designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Beverwijk is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The town is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of Amsterdam in the Randstad metropolitan area, north of the North Sea Canal very close to the North Sea coast. A railway tunnel and two motorway tunnels cross the canal between Beverwijk and the nearby city of Haarlem on the south side of the canal.
Diemen is a town and municipality with a population of 31,334 in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is located approximately 6 km southeast of Amsterdam's city centre, within the Amsterdam metropolitan area.
Purmerend is a city and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The city is surrounded by polders, such as the Purmer, Beemster and the Wormer. The city became the trade center of the region but the population grew relatively slowly. Only after 1960 did the population start to grow from around 10,000 to around 80,000 by the 2010s. From the 1960s onwards, Purmerend has seen major expansion and continues to do so. This expansion has turned Purmerend into a commuter town; many inhabitants of Purmerend work, go to school or spend their leisure time in Amsterdam. Purmerend is part of the Randstad, one of the largest conurbations in Europe.
GVB is the municipal public transport operator for Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, operating metro, tram, bus and ferry services in the metropolitan area of Amsterdam.
The Amsterdam Metro is a rapid transit system serving Amsterdam, Netherlands, and extending to the surrounding municipalities of Diemen and Ouder-Amstel. Until 2019 it also served the municipality of Amstelveen but this route was closed and converted into a tram line. The network is owned by the City of Amsterdam and operated by municipal public transport company Gemeente Vervoerbedrijf (GVB) which also operates trams, free ferries and local buses.
Amsterdam-Noord is a borough of Amsterdam, Netherlands with a population of about 90,000. The IJ, the body of water which separates it from Amsterdam-Centrum and the rest of the city, is situated southwest of Amsterdam-Noord. The borough, which has an area of 49.01 km2, borders the municipalities of Zaanstad, Oostzaan, Landsmeer and Waterland to the north, all part of the province of North Holland like Amsterdam. It borders the Markermeer to the east.
NDSM is a neighborhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands located on the former terrain of the Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij (NDSM) shipbuilding company. It is located in the Amsterdam-Noord borough along the IJ river and can be reached by ferry from Amsterdam Centraal station. After the shipyard closed, the various buildings were occupied by squatters before being gentrified in the 2000s, becoming offices for groups such as Greenpeace, MTV, Pernod Ricard, Red Bull and ViacomCBS. The East part of the former wharf houses a large number of art galleries and festivals throughout the year. The IJhallen is the biggest flea market in Europe, it also houses various populair restaurants Pllek, IJver, Loetje aan het IJ, Noorderlicht, Next. NDSM-West is redeveloped as a mixed-use residential area with high-rise buildings up to 120 meters. By 2034 NDSM-West will have 5000 residential units. NDSM-Oost will be redeveloped into a city park with art galleries and the monumental buildings.

Jacques Vriens is a Dutch children's author and playwright. He is known for his 1999 book Achtste-groepers huilen niet, which was twice adapted into a film. Vriens formerly worked as a schoolteacher and has written for the show Tien torens diep. In 2001 he was appointed to the Order of the Netherlands Lion by Queen Beatrix.
Station Noord is the northernmost station of the Amsterdam Metro's Route 52 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The line and station were opened on 22 July 2018.
Hotel Okura Amsterdam is a hotel in Amsterdam that is part of the Japanese chain Okura Hotels & Resorts. The 23-floor building has a height of 78 metres, and was designed by Dutch architects Bernard Bijvoet and Gerard Holt and Japanese architects Yoshiro Taniguchi and Yozo Shibata. The hotel is located on the Ferdinand Bolstraat and the Jozef Israelskade near the Barbiersbrug over the Amstel Canal, and was opened in September 1971 by Prince Claus. Upon its completion/opening, Hotel Okura Amsterdam was the second tallest building in Amsterdam; only Tower Overhoeks in Amsterdam-Noord was even higher. The hotel was the first European hotel of the Okura hotel chain. It is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
De Pijp metro station is a station on the Route 52 of the Amsterdam Metro in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was opened on 22 July 2018. Prior to March 2012, this station was known as the Ceintuurbaan. De Pijp is an underground station situated in the Oude Pijp neighbourhood of the borough of Amsterdam-Zuid. The station is expected to handle around 18,000 passengers and arrivals per day.

The Amsterdamsestraatweg Water Tower is located in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The water tower was built at Amsterdamsestraatweg 380 in 1916, in the style of the Amsterdam School. It became derelict in 1986 and was repeatedly squatted before its redevelopment into apartments began in 2020.

Sixhaven is a cancelled underground metro station in Amsterdam-Noord, Netherlands, located on the route of metro line 52 of the Amsterdam Metro. The station was postponed in 2003 due to high costs and low passenger expectancy. The section of the tunnel where the station was proposed was made larger to allow for the station to be constructed at a later date. Discussions of creating the station continued until 2021, when it was cancelled completely.
