The Government of Amsterdam consists of several territorial and functional forms of local and regional government. The principal form of government is the municipality of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The municipality's territory covers the city of Amsterdam as well as a number of small towns. The city of Amsterdam is also part of several functional forms of regional government. These include the Waterschap of Amstel, Gooi en Vecht, which is responsible for water management, and the Stadsregio of Amsterdam, which has responsibilities in the areas of spatial planning and public transport.
Sloten is a historical fortified city within the municipality of De Fryske Marren, in the Dutch province of Friesland. Sloten lies adjacent to the Slotermeer and is situated between the towns of Lemmer and Balk.
Sloten is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Amsterdam, and lies about 6 km west of the city centre. Sloten was a separate municipality until 1921. Since then, Sloten became the oldest part of Amsterdam. Sloten is one of the few remnants of various places that have marks of Osdorp before the 1950s and Sloterdijk as well, Sloten had many threats in terms of urbanisation, between the 1950s and the 1970s, thousands of houses rose between the wide polderland of the Osdorp region, Sloten was untouched by this until in the 1980s when the Netherlands candidated to host the 1992 Summer Olympics, they proposed that the area around Sloten will become an Olympic Village, however when Barcelona was chosen to be the host, they decided to change plans and build it in to create Nieuw Sloten, which rose in the 1990s.
Nieuw-Balinge is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Midden-Drenthe, and lies about 10 km northeast of Hoogeveen.

Richard Nieuwenhuizen was a Dutch man who was attacked and fatally injured on 2 December 2012 after serving as a volunteer linesman at a youth football match in Almere in which his youngest son was playing for the home team. The attack on him, for which six teenage players on the opposing team and one parent were subsequently convicted, and his death the following day have led to widespread protests and discussion in the Netherlands about violence associated with youth football, and continue to be an international example of the dangers of violence surrounding football matches.

Schiphol Airport railway station is a major passenger railway station in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands. It is located directly beneath the terminal complex of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and is operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station's six platforms are accessible via twelve escalators and three elevators located in the main concourse of the airport. The original station was opened in 1978, and the current station was opened in 1995. It connects the airport to Amsterdam and to various other cities in the Netherlands, as well as to Belgium and France.
