The Paharia Express is an express train connecting Indian cities Siliguri and Digha. This is the first direct train service originating from New Jalpaiguri (Siliguri) to Digha Flag Station. This train connects North and South of West Bengal touching Bihar and West Bengal state capital Kolkata. This train runs on the Kolkata–Siliguri route.

The meaning of word "Paharia" is The people of the hills. [1]

This train was inaugurated by the then Railway Minister India and now Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee on 5 October 2009. [2]

This train comprises 1 Composite [1A+3A], 1 AC 3-Tiers, 8 Sleeper class, 4 Unreserved General Compartment & 2 Luggage/Parcel cum Brake van which is provided with the Guard's cabin. Total coach composition is 16.

WAP-4 Locomotive of Electric Loco Shed, Howrah powers the train from Digha to Howrah and WDP-4D/ WDP-4B/ WDP-4 Locomotive of "Siliguri Diesel Loco Shed". hauls the train from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri and vice versa.

The Howrah–New Jalpaiguri line is a railway line connecting Howrah with New Jalpaiguri in North Bengal in the Indian state of West Bengal. The line continues through North Bengal and western part of Assam to connect with Guwahati. The Naihati–Bandel link allows trains from another terminus Sealdah in Calcutta to use this route. The line uses a major part of the Barharwa–Azimganj–Katwa loop. Many trains use an alternative line between Howrah and New Farakka, via Bardhaman and Rampurhat. Dibrugarh–Kolkata Express is a weekly Superfast train that connects Dibrugarh, known as the "Tea City of India", in eastern Assam and Kolkata, West Bengal. The train runs between Dibrugarh station of N F Railway and Kolkata station of Eastern Railway. It is named after the Dihing River, a tributary of the Brahmaputra river and an important river of the Dibrugarh district in Assam. This train was announced in the Railway Budget 2012/2013. The inaugural run took place on 4 September 2012, from Dibrugarh. It runs between Sealdah and Alipurduar Junction in Indian state of West Bengal.
