Raksasamys tikusbesar is a genus of big murids that lived on Sumba in Indonesia around 3500 year ago. Its fossil have been found on Mahaniwa (East Sumba) inside Liang Liwaula that consist of maxillary parts, scapula, and femur of the animal. Judging from the size of the jaw bone, Raksasamy is said to be a very large rodent that can reach 468.2–680.5 g. Beside its large size, Raksasamys also differ than most eastern Lesser Sunda rodent by having very high-crowned and strongly fluted molars with simplified crown morphology and thin flattened upper molar laminae. Scientist have also discovered another big rodent (albeit smaller; 251.2–336.3 g) named Milimonggamys. [1]
