Spindrift is California commercial fishing museum ship at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum in Morro Bay, California.
Spindrift was built in 1933 in San Francisco by the Beviacqua Brothers Genoa Boat Works near Fisherman’s Wharf. [1] Spindrift is Monterey style boat, built out of wood, with sawn oak frames and Port Orford Cedar planks. She latest engine install is a 3-cylinder, 2-cycle engine marine diesel engine with 101 hp. Spindrift is in need or restoration and plans are to have her restore her. Very few of these early Monterey style boat remain. Monterey style boat were built and use from the 1920 to 1960. The Monterey style boat is a type after the Mediterranean Felucca Boats that were 28 ft (8.5 m) long, but a few up to 60 ft (18 m). The Spindrift is next to the Alma tugboat at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum, both being built by the Beviacqua Brothers Genoa Boat Works. [2] [3]
A felucca is a traditional wooden sailing boat with a single sail used in the Mediterranean, including around Malta and Tunisia. However, in Egypt, Iraq and Sudan, its rig can consist of two lateen sails as well as just one.

Northwest Seaport Maritime Heritage Center is a nonprofit organization in Seattle, Washington dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Puget Sound and Northwest Coast maritime heritage, expressed through educational programs and experiences available to the public aboard its ships. The organization owns three large historic vessels docked at the Historic Ships' Wharf in Seattle's Lake Union Park; the tugboat Arthur Foss (1889), Lightship 83 Swiftsure (1904), and the halibut fishing schooner Tordenskjold (1911). These vessels are used as platforms for a variety of public programs, ranging from tours and festivals to restoration workshops and vocational training.
Fisherman's Wharf is a neighborhood and popular tourist attraction in San Francisco, California, United States. It roughly encompasses the northern waterfront area of San Francisco from Ghirardelli Square or Van Ness Avenue east to Pier 35 or Kearny Street. The F Market streetcar runs through the area, the Powell / Hyde cable car used to line runs to Aquatic Park, at the edge of Fisherman's Wharf, and the Powell / Mason cable car line runs a few blocks away in the past.
DSRV-2Avalon was a Mystic-class deep-submergence rescue vehicle rated to dive up to 5,000 feet (1,500 m) to rescue submarine crews trapped deep under the sea. The submarine was acquired in response to the loss of the USS Thresher, so that the Navy would have a way to rescue trapped submarine crews.
The Solano was a large railroad ferry, built as a reinforced paddle steamer with independently powered sidewheels by the Central Pacific Railroad, that carried entire trains across the Carquinez Strait between Benicia and Port Costa in California daily for 51 years, from 1879 to 1930. When launched, the Solano was the largest ferry of its kind in the world, a record held for 35 years until 1914 when she was joined by her sister ship, the Contra Costa, which was 13 feet (4.0 m) longer.
Fisherman's Wharf is a historic wharf in Monterey, California, United States. Used as an active wholesale fish market into the 1960s, the wharf eventually became a tourist attraction as commercial fishing tapered off in the area.

SS Foundation Franklin was a seagoing salvage tug built for the Royal Navy as HMS Frisky in 1918. In 1924, the tugboat was sold and renamed Gustavo Ipland before being acquired in 1930 by Foundation Maritime and renamed Foundation Franklin. The tugboat became famous for many daring salvage operations and rescues between 1930 and 1949. Her many rescues and salvage triumphs were celebrated in Farley Mowat's book The Grey Seas Under. In 1948, the ship was damaged in a hurricane and not considered repairable. The tug was broken up for scrap in 1949 at Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Victoria Harbour is a harbour, seaport, and seaplane airport in the Canadian city of Victoria, British Columbia. It serves as a cruise ship and ferry destination for tourists and visitors to the city and Vancouver Island. It is both a port of entry and an airport of entry for general aviation. Historically it was a shipbuilding and commercial fishing centre. While the Inner Harbour is fully within the City of Victoria, separating the city's downtown on its east side from the Victoria West neighbourhood, the Upper Harbour serves as the boundary between the City of Victoria and the district municipality of Esquimalt. The inner reaches are also bordered by the district of Saanich and the town of View Royal. Victoria is a federal "public harbour" as defined by Transport Canada. Several port facilities in the harbour are overseen and developed by the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, however the harbour master's position is with Transport Canada.
The Type V ship is a United States Maritime Commission (MARCOM) designation for World War II tugboats. Type V was used in World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Type V ships were used to move ships and barges. Type V tugboats were made of either steel or wood hulls. There were four types of tugboats ordered for World War II. The largest type V design was the sea worthy 186-foot (57 m) long steel hull, V4-M-A1. The V4-M-A1 design was used by a number of manufacturers; a total of 49 were built. A smaller steel hull tugboat was the 94-foot (29 m) V2-ME-A1; 26 were built. The largest wooden hull was the 148-foot (45 m) V3-S-AH2, of which 14 were built. The smaller wooden hull was the 58-foot (18 m) V2-M-AL1, which 35 were built. Most V2-M-AL1 tugboats were sent to the United Kingdom for the war efforts under the lend-lease act. The Type V tugs served across the globe during World War II including: Pacific War, European theatre, and in the United States. SS Farallon, and other Type V tugs, were used to help built Normandy ports, including Mulberry harbour, on D-Day, 6 June 1944, and made nine round trips to Normandy to deliver Phoenix breakwaters.
Wilmington Boat Works, Inc. or WILBO was a shipbuilding company in Wilmington, California. To support the World War 2 demand for ships Victory Shipbuilding built: Tugboats, crash rescue boats and sub chasers. Wilmington Boat Works opened in 1920 building Fishing boat and yachts, by Hugh Angelman, Willard Buchanan and Tom Smith. After the Korean War the shipyard closed in 1958. The shipyard was located at 400 Yacht Street, Wilmington, the site of the current USC boatyard.
Anderson & Cristofani was a wooden shipbuilding company in San Francisco, California. To support the World War 2 demand for ships Anderson & Cristofani shipyard switched over to military construction and built: US Navy APC coastal transports, tugboats, Patrol Boats and Minesweepers.
Hurley Marine Shipyard of Hurley Marine Works also site of Naval Reserve Armory, Oakland and the Naval Industrial Reserve Repair Facility, Oakland was a shipyard in Oakland, California. The Hurley Marine Shipyard opened in 1940 on property that previously had belonged to the General Engineering & Drydock Company, in 1951 the yard was operated by Crowley Maritime Corporation. In 1964 the site was operated by Pacific Dry Dock and Repair Company. The shipyard closed in 1992, today most of the shipyard is vacant land with part of the land now Leal Seal Boat Works owned by Leal Charonnat, of Leal Charonnat - Architect & Engineering. A small boatyard operated at the site from 1935 to 1940. The shipyard was located at 321 Embarcadero Oakland on the San Francisco Bay, Inner Oakland Harbor. Crowley Maritime Corporation was the parent corporation of Pacific Dry Dock, which used the shipyard to repair its fleet of tugboats and other ships. Pacific Dry Dock also operated a shipyard across from Coast Guard Island till 1991 at 1414 Embarcadero Oakland.
Pendleton Shipyard Company was a shipyard in New Orleans, Louisiana started by Pendleton E. Leyde in 1941. Pendleton Shipyard Company built ships for World War II under the Emergency Shipbuilding Program. The shipyard was at the Florida Avenue Wharf at 29.979537°N 90.025385°W. Pendleton Shipyard Company sold the yard to John Wise Calmes, who opened Calmes Engineering at the site. The yard also inspected and delivered small ships built in Mississippi River shipyards to the United States Navy. The Calmes Engineering shipyard closed in April 1958 shortly after the death of Calmes.
The Morro Bay Maritime Museum is a maritime museum in Morro Bay, California. It contains a variety of historic boats and items, some recording the history of Morro Bay itself. It has free entry but mainly supports itself via donations and sales from its merchandise shop.
Alma is Tugboat museum ship at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum in Morro Bay, California. Alma was built in 1912 in San Francisco by the Beviacqua Brothers Genoa Boat Works near Fisherman’s Wharf. Alma is small harbor tug, built out of wood, with sawn oak frames and Cedar planks. The former owners of Sylvester’s Tug Service, the Kelsey Family, donated Alma in 1995 to the museum. No long in Tug business, the Kelsey family now runs the Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards near Avila Beach. In June 2016 restoration work on Alma was compelted, Keith Kelsey that worked on the Alma was there. Alma restoration work was done by the Central Coast Maritime Museum Association. Funding for the restoration work came from the Hind Foundation. Before her 1995 retirement, Alma operated out of Morro Bay.
USCG Surf Rescue Boat CG-30615 is Surf Rescue Boat museum ship at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum in Morro Bay, California. CG-30615 was built in 1983 in California by the Willard Boat Company in Fountain Valley, California. CG-30615 is small Surf Rescue Boat, built out of wood. The United States Coast Guard had she built a cost of $113,000. This type of boat, a 30' surf rescue boat, was built from 1980 to 1990. She started operating out of Morro Bay in 1996, after working in the Gulf Coast and the Pacific Northwest. To operate in the rough Surf zone the boat is self-bailing and self-righting. The boat as a range of 130 Nautical Miles.
Evelyn S is Fish tug / Tugboat museum ship at the Michigan Maritime Museum, South Haven, Michigan. Evelyn S was built in 1939 Sturgeon Bay Boat Works for William Sellman Fisheries in Manistique, Michigan. Evelyn S is a small wooden gill net fish tug design. To protect the boat from frozen waters of Lake Michigan, the Evelyn S. is sheathed in 3/16" welded steel plates. The keel, stem, and deadwood cover in 1/2" iron plate. She has a keel and hull made of white oak. The superstructure made of white-oak frames and sided with cedar planks. She is powered by a 3-cylinder Kahlenberg diesel engine, built by Kahlenberg Brothers Company of Two Rivers, Wisconsin. The tug has a fully enclosed deck, sometimes called a turtle back design, to protect fisherman from the freezing waters of the Great Lakes.
