The State Reform Party' (Malay : Parti Reformasi Negeri) or ASPIRASI is a political party based in Sarawak, Malaysia. Its current President is Lina Soo, replacing Patau Rubis, who died in 2016, after he collapsed while presiding the STAR Annual General Meeting on 20 March 2016. [2] [3]

The STAR's nine-point election manifesto would focus on Sarawak's rights as contained in the Malaysia Agreement, the 1962 Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report and the 18-Point Agreement. [4] The STAR's policy will ensure the party always struggle as a significant pressure group on demanding recognition of Sarawak rights together with many other non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The Party demands that the Government of Sarawak have to reform the state government system and go out from the available comfort zone.

In 2016, the State Reform Party branch in neighbouring Sabah was succeeded by the Homeland Solidarity Party as a new Sabah-based party. It still uses STAR as a backronym with its new Malay name Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku. [1]

State Reform Party (STAR) has announced its change of name to Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak, or Aspirasi, in short.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu is a right-wing political party in Malaysia. It is currently the largest political party in Sarawak, with strongholds only in the rural areas. Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu was formed from the combination of three parties in Sarawak; Parti Negara Sarawak, Barisan Rakyat Jati Sarawak and Parti Pesaka Anak Sarawak. The formation of the party was for the purpose of the improvement of the livelihood and protect the rights of the Bumiputera in many fields such as politics, economy and social. The party is also one of the former constituents of the Barisan Nasional coalition. Following the fall of BN in the 2018 general election and in the aftermath of a meeting between all Sarawak-based BN coalition parties on 12 June 2018, PBB left the coalition to formed a new Sarawak-based coalition, Sarawak Parties Alliance.

Sarawak United Peoples Party Malaysian political party

The Sarawak United Peoples' Party, or SUPP is a multi-racial political party of Malaysia based in Sarawak. The SUPP president is Dr. Sim Kui Hian. He succeeded the post from his predecessor, Peter Chin Fah Kui in 2014. Established in 1959, SUPP is the first political party in Sarawak. It has its roots in left-leaning ideologies, nationalism and championing for the cause of the working class. Formerly it was one of the Sarawak component members of Barisan Nasional from 1970 until June 2018. Together with other Sarawak-based BN component parties, SUPP always has had tension in its relationship with its Peninsula-based partners. After the 2018 general election defeat of BN had proven that the model was no longer viable, and following a key meeting between all Sarawak-based BN coalition parties on 12 June 2018, SUPP has decided to leave BN to co-form a new Sarawak-based coalition of Gabungan Parti Sarawak.

Shafie Apdal Malaysian politician

Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie bin Apdal is a Malaysian politician who served as the 15th Chief Minister and the State Minister of Finance of Sabah from May 2018 to September 2020 following defeat of his coalition, Sabah Heritage Party + in the 2020 state election. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Semporna since April 1995 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Senallang since May 2018. He was the Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Vice-President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the leading party in the then-ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He is the founding President of WARISAN, the opposition party of Sabah that is allied with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition coalition.

20-point agreement

The 20-point agreement, or the 20-point memorandum, is a list of 20 points drawn up by North Borneo, proposing terms for its incorporation into the new federation as the State of Sabah, during negotiations prior to the formation of Malaysia. In the Malaysia Bill of the Malaysia Agreement some of the twenty points were incorporated, to varying degrees, into what became the Constitution of Malaysia; others were merely accepted orally, thus not gaining legal status. The 20-point agreement often serves as a focal point amongst those who argue that Sabah's rights within the Federation have been eroded over time.

Jeffrey Kitingan

Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan is Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Chief Minister II of Sabah since September 2020, in May 2018, State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Sabah since September 2020 and State Minister of Agriculture and Industries of Sabah in May 2018 at the Sabah state level. At the federal level, he served as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture from March 2020 to his resignation in September 2020 and Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government from August 1994 to May 1995. He has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Keningau since May 2018, Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tambunan since May 2018 and Bingkor from May 2013 to May 2018. He has served and been founding President of the Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR), a component party of the federal and state ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, since July 2016. He was born in the town of Kota Marudu but hailed in the interior district of Tambunan and graduated from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. His brother, Joseph Pairin Kitingan served as the Chief Minister of Sabah from 1985 to 1994.

Anifah bin Haji Aman is a Malaysian politician. Presently he is the President of Love Sabah Party (PCS). 2021 Sarawak state election 2021 legislative election in Sarawak, Malaysia

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Malaysian political party

The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah is a political party based in Sabah, Malaysia mainly to serve as the Sabah community and regionalism party. The party was formed and registered on 28 August 2013 as a multi-racial Sabah oppositon party then with the vision to present the views and will of the original Sabahans to the government. It is only started to be active in 2016 and relatively little-known new party, initially registered as Parti Gagasan Bersama Rakyat Sabah, was among the latest new parties registration approved by the Registrar of Society (RoS) and just received permission to operate as a political party in 2013.
