The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the United States federal government's official list of districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance or "great artistic value". A property listed in the National Register, or located within a National Register Historic District, may qualify for tax incentives derived from the total value of expenses incurred in preserving the property.

The National Historical Park was created to protect several historically significant locations in the Shenandoah Valley of Northern Virginia, notably the site of the American Civil War Battle of Cedar Creek and the Belle Grove Plantation.

Round Barns in Illinois was the subject of a Multiple Property Submission to the National Register of Historic Places in the U.S. state of Illinois. The submission consists of 18 Illinois round barns located throughout the state. The list had major additions in 1982 and 1984. In 1983, 1992 and 2003 one property was added to the submission and in 1994 a historic district at the University of Illinois, including three round barns, was added to the submission and the National Register of Historic Places. The highest concentration of round barns on the submission occurs in Stephenson County. Five Stephenson County round barns were added to the National Register on February 23, 1984.
Accokeek Creek Site, also known as Moyaone, is an archaeological site in Prince George's County, Maryland, located along the Potomac River across from Mount Vernon in today's Piscataway Park, which was inhabited intermittently since 2000 BC. Accokeek Creek Site was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1964.

Beverley, also known as Bullskin, is a farm near Charles Town, West Virginia that has been a working agricultural unit since 1750. The narrow lane that leads from U.S. Route 340 to the Beverley complex was, in the 18th and 19th centuries a toll road. The main house was built about 1800 by Beverley Whiting on the site of a c. 1760 stone house. The house is Georgian influenced Federal style, with a later Greek Revival portico. A number of outbuildings dating to the original 1760 house accompany the main house.

It is home to the Greenwood Country Store and the Greenwood Community Center, which has the area's only roller skating rink. Greenwood has a post office with ZIP code 22943 The Greenwood Tunnel, built by Claudius Crozet for the Blue Ridge Railroad and used by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway until its abandonment during World War II, is near Greenwood by the Buckingham Branch Railroad tracks.

"Oakland," also known as the James M. Stephenson House, is a home located in Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. Although a slaveholder and sympathizing with the Confederacy, Stephenson was also married to the sister of Unionist Arthur Boreman, and allowed then Union Army Col. James B. Steedman to use his grove nearby during the American Civil War. However, Union cavalry units occupied this his mansion for a time nonetheless, and damaged furnishings as well as the home and garden.
High Banks, also known as the Helm-Clevenger House, is a historic home and farm located near Stephenson, Frederick County, Virginia. The house was built about 1753, and is a two-story, three bay by two bay, center-hall, double-pile, limestone dwelling. It has a one-story, two-bay by three-bay frame addition and a frame rear wing. The front porch and interior features detailing in the late Greek Revival were added about 1858. Also on the property are a contributing foundation and partial wall of a post-Civil War bank barn and an 18th-century icehouse pit, both made of stone.
Cleridge, also known as Sunnyside Farm, is a historic home and farm complex located near Stephenson, in Frederick County, Virginia. The main house was built about 1790, and is a 2 1/2-story, five bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It has a 2 1/2-story, four bay, brick addition added in 1882–1883. Also on the property are the contributing brick well structure, the frame icehouse/blacksmith shop, a frame carriage house, the brick-entry, a frame poultry house, and a farm manager's house. The cultivated and forested land is considered a contributing agricultural site.
