The Teluk Langsa-class tank landing ship was a class of tank landing ships which were operated by the United States Navy during World War II but were later transferred and sold to the Indonesian Navy in the 1960s and 1970s.
The ships were all differently built on subclasses which were the LST-1 and LST-542. Additionally, Teluk Amboina was a copy of the LST-542 variant built by Sasebo Heavy Industries after World War II. [1] There are ten ships in this class. Jaya Wijaya was the half sister to these ships as she was converted to an Achelous-class repair ship.
Vessels of the class have a length of 328 ft (100 m), a beam of 50 ft (15 m), and a draft from 2 ft (0.61 m) to 14 feet (4.3 m). Their displacement is 4,080 long tons (4,150 t) at full load. The ships are powered by two diesel engines with two shafts. The Teluk Langsa class has a speed of 12 knots (22 km/h). [2]
The Teluk Langsa class has a capacity of 163 troops, 1,900 long tons (1,900 t) of cargo, and two LCVPs on davits. The ships have a complement of 104 personnel, including 7 officers.
In 1980, it was stated that Teluk Amboina received an upgrade in weaponry, namely the installation of six Bofors 40/60 MK3 guns. As a landing ship, Teluk Amboina is equipped with four units of LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) and 20 medium tanks. [3]
On 18 March 2011, Teluk Bayur was decommissioned and then sunk as target on 20 April. [4] [5] Teluk Langsa, Teluk Kau, Teluk Tomini and Teluk Saleh were simultaneously decommissioned on 3 May 2012 and scrapped in the same month. [6] [7]

USS LST-356 was an LST-1-class tank landing ship built for the United States Navy during World War II. She earned three battle stars during the war and was decommissioned in July 1946. In July 1955, she was assigned the name USS Bledsoe County (LST-356) in honor of Bledsoe County, Tennessee, but never saw active service under that name. Bledsoe County was struck from the Naval Vessel Register in September 1960 and sold for scrapping in March 1961. She was apparently sold into commercial service in 1962 instead, serving under several names over the next five years. In 1967, she was acquired by the Indonesian Navy and renamed KRI Teluk Tomini (508). In 2012, the ship was decommissioned and scrapped.
USS Iredell County (LST-839) was an LST-542-class tank landing ship built for the United States Navy during World War II. Named after Iredell County, North Carolina, she was the only U.S. Naval vessel to bear the name.
KRI Teluk Bintuni (520) is a tank landing ship (LST) of the Indonesian Navy. Commissioned in 2015, she is the third ship of her class and was the first to be commissioned. She is also the namesake of her class.
The Teluk Bintuni class, Indonesian designation AT-117M is a class of tank landing ships that is being built indigenously for the Indonesian Navy by various Indonesian local shipyards. It was announced that the Indonesian Navy intends to acquire a total of twelve vessels of the same class with some modifications from the lead ship to improve ship's capability.

Its design is a copy of LST-542-class LST, albeit faster than the original. As of 2020, Teluk Amboina is the oldest ship in commission with the Indonesian Navy.
USS LST-678 was an LST-542-class tank landing ship built for the United States Navy during World War II. Later she was converted to Benewah-class barracks ship as USS Presque Isle (APB-44), named after Presque Isle County, Michigan. She was acquired by Indonesian Navy in 1967 as KRI Teluk Ratai (509) and decommissioned in 2019. She is planned to be preserved as museum ship.
USS Solano County (LST-1128) was a LST-542-class tank landing ship in the United States Navy during World War II. She was transferred to the Indonesian Navy as KRI Teluk Langsa.
