The Victor Valley Transportation Center (Victorville station) is an intermodal transit center in Victorville, California. It is served by the daily Amtrak Southwest Chief train, as well as Greyhound Lines intercity buses and Victor Valley Transit Authority local buses.
The California Southern Railroad, a subsidiary of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad (Santa Fe), opened between Barstow and San Diego in 1885. In 1905, with the completion of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad, the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) began using trackage rights over the Santa Fe between Daggett and Riverside. Service to Victorville on the UP City of Los Angeles and Santa Fe Grand Canyon lasted until May 1, 1971, when Amtrak took over intercity passenger service. [2] [3] Amtrak only retained the Santa Fe Super Chief , which did not stop at Victorville. [4] The Desert Wind , added in 1979, also passed through Victorville without stopping. [5] : 209
Planning for an Amtrak stop at Victorville began in June 1986, and construction began in July 1990. [6] The stop opened with service by the daily Desert Wind on October 28, 1990. [7] : 156 [8] The Southwest Chief (successor of the Super Chief) began stopping at Victorville on October 30, 1994. [5] : 192 [9] [10] The Desert Wind was discontinued on May 12, 1997, leaving only the Southwest Chief serving Victorville. [7] : 151
In February 1994, a county funding agency approved construction of a transit center with a park-and-ride lot, bus plaza, and waiting room. [11] After delays, the $3.4 million Victory Valley Transportation Center opened on January 22, 2000. [12] On August 1, 2021, the transit center became the primary hub for Victor Valley Transit local bus service. [13] As of 2024 [update] , Amtrak plans to reconstruct the platform, parking area, and walkways for accessibility in FY 2024 to FY 2026. [14]

The Southwest Chief is a long-distance passenger train operated by Amtrak on a 2,265-mile (3,645 km) route between Chicago and Los Angeles through the Midwest and Southwest via Kansas City, Albuquerque, and Flagstaff mostly on the BNSF's Southern Transcon, but branches off between Albuquerque and Kansas City via the Topeka, La Junta, Raton, and Glorieta Subdivision. Amtrak bills the route as one of its most scenic, with views of the Painted Desert and the Red Cliffs of Sedona, as well as the plains of Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado.
The Capitol Corridor is a 168-mile (270 km) passenger train route in Northern California operated by Amtrak between San Jose, in the Bay Area, and Auburn, in the Sacramento Valley. The route is named after the two points most trains operate between, San Jose and Sacramento. The route runs roughly parallel to I-880 and I-80. Some limited trips run between Oakland and San Jose. A single daily round trip runs between San Jose and Auburn, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Capitol Corridor trains started in 1991.
The San Joaquins is a passenger train service operated by Amtrak in California's San Joaquin Valley. Seven daily round trips run between its southern terminus at Bakersfield and Stockton, with onward service to Sacramento and Oakland. For Fiscal year 2025, two additional trips to Sacramento will be added.
The Coast Starlight is a long-distance passenger train operated by Amtrak on the West Coast of the United States between Seattle and Los Angeles via Portland and the San Francisco Bay Area. The train, which has operated continuously since Amtrak's formation in 1971, was the first to offer direct service between Seattle and Los Angeles. Its name is a combination of two prior Southern Pacific (SP) trains, the Coast Daylight and the Starlight.

Santa Fe Depot is a union station in San Diego, California, built by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway to replace the small Victorian-style structure erected in 1887 for the California Southern Railroad Company. The Spanish Colonial Revival style station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a San Diego Historic Landmark. Its architecture, particularly the signature twin domes, is often echoed in the design of modern buildings in downtown San Diego.
The California Southern Railroad was a subsidiary railroad of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in Southern California. It was organized July 10, 1880, and chartered on October 23, 1880, to build a rail connection between what has become the city of Barstow and San Diego, California.
Solana Beach Transit Center is a train station on Amtrak California's Pacific Surfliner passenger train and on North County Transit District's COASTER commuter rail route located in Solana Beach, California. The tracks were lowered to their current position in the late 90s, to alleviate congestion on Lomas Santa Fe Road and Downtown Solana Beach. There are two tracks that carry the Surf Line in a trench through the city of Solana Beach, including the station.
Oceanside Transit Center is a major railway interchange in Oceanside, California, serving both intercity and suburban/commuter services. The station is used by Amtrak on the route of its Pacific Surfliner service between San Diego and San Luis Obispo. It is also a terminus for two different regional transit operators – Metrolink, the commuter rail operator for the Los Angeles area, has two of its services, the Orange County Line and Inland Empire–Orange County Line, that terminate at Oceanside, while the North County Transit District, the operator for most of the public transport in the North County, has its COASTER and SPRINTER services also terminating at Oceanside. Oceanside Transit Center is also served by Greyhound Lines and numerous NCTD BREEZE buses.

Martinez station is an Amtrak passenger train station in Martinez, California, United States. Located at the west end of downtown Martinez, the station has one side platform and one island platform, which serve three of the four tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad Martinez Subdivision. It is served by the daily California Zephyr and Coast Starlight long-distance trains, five daily round trips of the San Joaquin corridor service, and fifteen daily round trips of the Capitol Corridor service. Martinez is also served by Amtrak Thruway buses plus County Connection, Tri-Delta Transit, and WestCAT local buses.
The San Bernardino Santa Fe Depot is a Mission Revival Style passenger rail terminal in San Bernardino, California, United States. It has been the primary station for the city, serving Amtrak today, and the Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroads in the past. Until the mid-20th century, the Southern Pacific Railroad had a station 3/4 of a mile away. It currently serves one Amtrak and two Metrolink lines. The depot is a historical landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Passenger and Freight Depot.
Del Mar station is an at-grade light rail station on the A Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located between Arroyo Seco Parkway and Raymond Avenue at Del Mar Boulevard, after which the station is named, in Pasadena, California. The station is located on the site of the historic Pasadena Santa Fe Depot and the station building, built in 1935, still stands on the property.

Riverside–Downtown station is a train station in Riverside, California, United States. It is served by three Metrolink commuter rail lines – the 91/Perris Valley Line, Inland Empire–Orange County Line, and Riverside Line – and Amtrak intercity rail service on the Southwest Chief. The station is owned by the Riverside County Transportation Commission.
Gilroy station is a Caltrain station located in Gilroy, California, United States. It is the southern terminus of the South County Connector service, and is only served during weekday rush hours in the peak direction, with trains going toward San Jose in the morning and returning southbound in the evening. The station building was constructed by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1918 and restored in 1998. Future plans call for extended Amtrak Capitol Corridor service, as well as California High-Speed Rail trains, to also stop at Gilroy. The station was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2019 as Gilroy Southern Pacific Railroad Depot.
Pomona–North station is a railroad station located in Pomona, California. It is located just west of Garey Avenue and south of Bonita Avenue, and has 225 free parking spaces which are accessible from either Santa Fe Street or Fulton Road. Formerly an intercity train station, it is served by the Metrolink commuter rail system. The extension of the Los Angeles Metro Rail A Line light rail line to Pomona-North is projected to open in 2025.
