Hounslow is a large suburban town in West London, 10.7 miles (17.2 km) west-southwest of Charing Cross. The majority of Hounslow is within the London Borough of Hounslow, where it is one of the borough's five major towns and the home of its administrative centre. Heathrow Airport is in the London Borough of Hillingdon, whilst the southern portion of Hounslow adjacent to the station is within the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames. Hounslow, covering the TW3, TW4, TW5 and TW6 postal code areas, is identified as a major metropolitan centre in the London Plan.
Kew is a district in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-east of Richmond and 7.1 miles (11.4 km) west by south-west of Charing Cross; its population at the 2011 census was 11,436. Kew is the location of the Royal Botanic Gardens, now a World Heritage Site, which includes Kew Palace. Kew is also the home of important historical documents such as Domesday Book, which is held at The National Archives.

Aldbourne is a village and civil parish about 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Marlborough, Wiltshire, England, in a valley on the south slope of the Lambourn Downs – part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From here an unnamed winterbourne flows south to join the River Kennet 4 miles (6 km) away near Ramsbury. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 1,833. The parish includes the hamlets of Upper Upham and Woodsend and part of the hamlet of Preston, which straddles the boundary with Ramsbury. The village of Snap became deserted in the early 20th century.

Whitton is a residential area in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in south-west London, England. The majority of Whitton is covered by the two electoral wards of Heathfield and Whitton. Historically, the boundaries of Whitton were the north-western part of Twickenham manor, bounded internally by the sections of the River Crane and the Duke of Northumberland's River.
Whitton railway station is in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in southwest London, within Travelcard Zone 5. It is 12 miles 43 chains (20.2 km) down the line from London Waterloo. The station and all trains serving it are operated by South Western Railway. The station was extensively refurbished and its main buildings replaced 2015—2016. The footbridge was replaced so as to incorporate optional lifts to the platforms. Whitton station has a ticket office above the up (London-bound) platform containing a coffee shop, a taxi office, ticket machines and a disabled toilet. The station, to allow periods of no staff, lacks ticket barriers. The operator has had call at the station on most weekdays since 2014 air-conditioned, ten-coach trains. The platforms were extended away from the building and footbridge in February 2012.

Whitton is a small town located in Leeton Shire in the Australian state of New South Wales and is located 23km West of the Leeton township. Founded in 1850, it is named after John Whitton (1820–98), Engineer-in-Charge of the New South Wales Government Railways. The railway reached Whitton in 1881. At the 2016 census, Whitton had a population of 496.
Kneller Hall is a Grade II listed mansion in Whitton, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It houses the Royal Military School of Music, training musicians for the British Army, which acquired the building in the mid-19th century. It is also home to the school's Museum of Army Music. The Army vacated the site on 31 August 2021.

Its past, rooted in 19th-century America and subsequent growth in the two centuries since then, has closely paralleled the nation's political and sociological trends.
