William Spencer Satch MBE [1] (born 9 June 1989) is a British rower and Olympic gold medallist. [2]
Satch was educated at Shiplake College near Henley-on-Thames in southeast Oxfordshire. [3] His rowing coach was New Zealand gold medallist Shane O'Brien, who was deputy headmaster at Shiplake College. [4] Satch rows for Leander Club in Henley-on-Thames, and was appointed a vice-captain of the club in 2018.
Satch won the bronze medal, rowing with George Nash in the coxless pair at the 2012 Summer Olympics. [5]
In September 2013 Satch stroked the GB men's eight to the gold medal at the World Rowing Championships in Chungju, Korea and repeated the gold at the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam in 2014. He was part of the British team (at stroke) that topped the medal table at the 2015 World Rowing Championships at Lac d'Aiguebelette in France, where he won a gold medal as part of the eight that gained a hat-trick of wins over the German Olympic champions. The crew was Matt Gotrel, Constantine Louloudis, Pete Reed, Paul Bennett, Moe Sbihi, Alex Gregory, George Nash and Phelan Hill. [6]
In May 2016, he was part of the GB men's eight which won bronze at the European Championships. [7] Later in 2016, he stroked the British men's eight to a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. [8] He won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida, as part of the coxless four [9] and then won a bronze medal at the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, as part of the eight with James Rudkin, Alan Sinclair, Tom Ransley, Thomas George, Moe Sbihi, Oliver Wynne-Griffith, Matthew Tarrant and Henry Fieldman. Satch was awarded the MBE in the Queen's 2017 New Year Honours list for services to rowing. [11]
Shiplake College is a private boarding and day school in Shiplake, by the River Thames, just outside Henley-on-Thames, England. The school, with 520 pupils, takes boys from 11–18 and girls from 16–18. From September 2023 girls will join Year 7 as the school transitions to become fully co-educational by 2027.
Peter K. Reed OBE is a retired British Olympic rower. Reed is a three-times Olympic gold medallist – earning gold in the Men's coxless four at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and then a gold medal in the Men's eight at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He has won five gold medals and three silver medals at the World Championships.

Matthew Langridge is a British rower. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he was part of the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He was the 2015 European Champion in the men's pair, along with James Foad. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro he was part of the British crew that won the gold medal in the men's eight.
Shane Joseph O'Brien is a former New Zealand rower who won an Olympic gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Helen Glover is a British professional rower and a member of the Great Britain Rowing Team. Ranked the number 1 female rower in the world in 2015–16, she is a two-time Olympic champion, triple World champion, quintuple World Cup champion and quadruple European champion. She and her partner Heather Stanning were the World, Olympic, World Cup and European record holders, plus the Olympic, World and European champions in the women's coxless pairs. She has also been a British champion in both women's fours and quadruple sculls.
Heather Mary Stanning OBE is a retired British professional rower, a member of the Great Britain Rowing Team, and Royal Artillery officer. Ranked number 1 female rower in the world in 2016, she is a double Olympic champion, double World champion, quadruple World Cup champion and double European champion. As of May 2015, she and her partner Helen Glover were the World, Olympic, World Cup and European record holders, plus the reigning Olympic, World, and European champions in the women's coxless pairs. She has also been a British champion in both women's fours and quad sculls.
Alexander John Gregory, is an English rower and a two-time Olympic Gold medallist from 2012 and 2016 in the Coxless four.
Thomas Matthew Ransley is a retired British rower. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro he was part of the British crew that won the gold medal in the eight, was twice a World Champion and in 2015 was the European Champion in the men's coxless four.
James Foad is an English rower. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he was part of the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He was the 2015 European Champion in the men's pair, along with Matt Langridge.
Mohamed Karim Sbihi is a British rower. He is a three-time Olympian and Olympic medal winner. He won a gold medal in the coxless four at 2016 Rio Olympics, and at the 2012 London Olympics he was in the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He returned to the eight for the 2020 Tokyo games, again winning bronze.
George Christopher Nash is a British rower. He is dual Olympian, dual Olympic medal winner and three time world champion.
Constantine Michael Louloudis is a Greek-British rower. He is an Olympic champion, two time world champion and four time Boat Race winner.
Phelan Hill is a British rowing coxswain. He is a three-time world champion and an Olympic gold medallist. He competed in the Men's eight event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal. In 2016, he competed in the Men's eight event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal.
Paul Bennett is a British rower and Olympic gold medallist.
