Winter Island is an uninhabited island of the Arctic Archipelago in the Qikiqtaaluk Region, Nunavut. It lies in the Foxe Basin with Hoppner Strait to the northwest. Winter Island is south of the Melville Peninsula, separated from it by Lyon Inlet. William Edward Parry wintered here at the end of 1821.

It used to be the city's reservoir, and was later a public swimming area. It is easily accessible from Winter Island Road on Winter Island. The area is currently maintained by the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, and the old dam still separates it from Cat Cove. The dam has a tide gate to allow circulation between Cat Cove and Smith Pool and to allow manipulation of the water depth in Smith Pool. Tuapait Island lies to the north. Beacon Island, Kekertukdjuak Island, Miliakdjuin Island, Tesseralik Island, and Ugpitimik Island are in the vicinity.

Winter Island is an uninhabited island of the Arctic Archipelago in the Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut. It is located at the mouth of the Perry River in the Queen Maud Gulf Migratory Bird Sanctuary where tundra swan have been known to nest in limited numbers. In 1822 William Parry, teamed up with two local Inuit to map places around the Melville Peninsula in the greater Canadian Arctic which included Winter Island.
