The 2023 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. [1] [2]
The first stage of the qualification pathway in the Asia region consisted of two sub-regional qualifiers, held in July and September 2023 in Malaysia and Qatar respectively. [3] [4] [5] Malaysia won all of their matches in the Qualifier B tournament and advanced to the regional final. [6] Kuwait won the Qualifier A to advance to the regional final after defeating Saudi Arabia in their final match. [7]
In the regional final, Kuwait and Malaysia were joined by Nepal, Oman, and Bahrain (all of whom contested in the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier A in Oman), as well as Hong Kong and Singapore (who contested in the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B in Zimbabwe), and the United Arab Emirates (who were knocked out of the first round of the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia). The regional final was held in Nepal from 30 October to 5 November 2023. [9] [10] The two finalists (Nepal and Oman) qualified for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. [11] [12]

The Oman men's national cricket team is the team that represents the country of Oman in international matches and is governed by Oman Cricket, which became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2000, and gained associate status in 2014. The national side has played matches at the Twenty20 International level. On 24 April 2019, Oman achieved One-Day International status for the first time until 2023, after they beat tournament hosts Namibia by four wickets in 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two.
The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the seventh edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20, a Twenty20 cricket tournament that took place from 17 October to 14 November 2021. The tournament was formally hosted by India, with matches played in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. It was scheduled to be hosted by Australia in 2020 but later postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Dipendra Singh Airee is a Nepalese cricketer. In August 2018, he was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Nepal's first-ever One Day International (ODI) match, against the Netherlands. During the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Airee scored the fastest fifty in T20Is, off just 10 balls, against Mongolia. In April 2024, he became the only third player in T20Is to hit six consecutive sixes in an over, doing it against Qatar in the ACC Premier Cup. He is also dubbed as “The Tiger” for his aggressive batting skills.
The 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament held during October and November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates to determine the teams that would qualify for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The six teams finishing highest in the qualifier tournament joined Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first group stage of the 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The tournament formed part of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier series, with the Netherlands winning the final.

The 2022 Asia Cup Qualification was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup. The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern regional T20 tournaments were held in February and March of the same year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Thirteen teams competed, with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020 the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the qualifier. In May 2021, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that edition of the tournament deferred until 2023. It was later announced that there would be a T20I Asia Cup in 2022, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

The top three teams in the sub-regional qualifier progressed to the Americas regional final, which was played in Bermuda between 30 September and 7 October 2023, where they were joined by Canada, who competed in the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier A in Oman. The winner of the Americas Regional Final qualified for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The West Indies and the United States, qualified for the World Cup as hosts.

The Asia Qualifier was hosted by Malaysia in August and September 2023. The two teams to reach the final of the qualifier tournament progressed to the global qualifier.
The 2024 ACC Men's Premier Cup was the second edition of ACC Premier Cup, took place in April 2024. It served as the final stage of qualification for the 2025 Asia Cup Tournament. UAE won the tournament by defeating Oman in the final, and thus qualified for the 2025 Asia Cup. It featured the 8 highest-ranked ACC associate members who were joined by two finalists from 2024 ACC Men's Challenger Cup.
The 2023 Malaysia Quadrangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament which took place in Malaysia in August 2023. The participating teams were the hosts Malaysia along with Hong Kong, Kuwait and Nepal. All the matches were played at Bayuemas Oval in Klang. The tournament formed part of the preparation of all four teams for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier tournament.
