Deshapriyo Park is a playground of South Kolkata, having Rashbehari Avenue on one side and Sarat Bose Road on another side. Different games like Cricket, Football, Tennis etc. are regularly played here by professional and amateur players and locals. In the playground one of the biggest Durga Puja is organized. [1] The Priya cinema is located beside this playground.
As of June 2012 [update] the park was shrinking day by day. Firstly it was encroached by a club and then a public toilet and a restaurant. Bonani Kakkar, a green activist reacted– "Deshapriyo Park has been grabbed several times in the past. The forms of permanent constructions vary, but encroachment never stops. Now fresh encroachment is allowed in the form of a stage". [2] The stage and sculpture was however inaugurated by the chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee on the event of Language Day. On Feb.12, 2015 Mayor Sovan Chatterjee inaugurated [3] Kolkata's first Grid Connected battery-less Solar Power street lighting system at Deshapriya Park.
Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Shaaradotsava, is an annual festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga, and is also celebrated because of Durga's victory over Mahishasura. It is particularly celebrated in the Indian state of West Bengal,Odisha,Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Assam and by Hindus in Bangladesh. The festival is observed in the Indian calendar in the month of Ashvin, which corresponds to September–October in the Gregorian calendar. Durga Puja is a ten-day festival, of which the last five are of the most significance. The puja is performed in homes and public, the latter featuring a temporary stage and structural decorations. The festival is also marked by scripture recitations, performance arts, revelry, gift-giving, family visits, feasting, and public processions called a melā. Durga Puja is an important festival in the Shaktism tradition of Hinduism. Durga Puja in Kolkata has been inscribed on the intangible cultural heritage list of UNESCO in December 2021. In Cuttack(Odisha) Many Durga Idols are Crafted from Silver. 34 Puja mandaps are decorated with silver tableaus. In Odisha the pandals feature stunning decorations, showcasing traditional and contemporary themes that attract thousands of visitors. Durga Puja which is celebrated as Gosani Yatra in Puri. In this festival of Puri, several big clay idols of Mahisamardini Durga are worshipped every year in the month of Asvina (October).

Line 6 is a rapid transit metro line of the Kolkata Metro in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It will connect New Garia with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport via two major satellite towns of Kolkata metropolitan region, Salt Lake and New Town. It currently operates between Kavi Subhash and Hemanta Mukhopadhyay. This line will be one of the most important stretches of Kolkata Metro because it will connect the southern and the eastern parts of the city with Kolkata Airport. The total distance of this route will be 29.87 km (18.56 mi). It connects Line 1 at Kavi Subhash and will eventually connect Line 2 at Sector-V and Kaikhali and Line 4 at Airport.
