Emmanuel Oludaisi Adekunle is an Anglican bishop in Nigeria. [1] he is the current Bishop of Egba. [2]

Adekunle was born in Abeokuta on the 29 March 1962. He was educated at Abeokuta Grammar School, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and Emmanuel College of Theology and Christian Education, lbadan. A former teacher and engineer, he was ordained in 1993. He became a Canon in 1999 and an archdeacon in 2001. In 2006 he was appointed the Provost of the Cathedral of St. Peter, Abeokuta. He was consecrated on Sunday, 23 August, 2009 at the Cathedral Church of St. Jude, Ebute Metta, Lagos. [3]

Isaac Oluwole (1852–1932) was a Nigerian bishop of Sierra Leonean and Egba heritage. He was one of the most prominent emigrants from Sierra Leone resident in Lagos during the second half of the nineteenth century. From 1879 to 1893, he was the principal of the CMS Grammar School, Lagos and was later ordained a priest. During his time, he was one of the most loved among his peers of clergymen. A reason which may have led to his recommendation as a bishop after a leading radical candidate, James Johnson, complained about the neglect of indigenous control of the Church of Missionary Society.

The Saro, or Nigerian Creoles of the 19th and early 20th centuries, were Africans that were emancipated and initially resettled in Freetown, Sierra Leone by the Royal Navy, which, with the West Africa Squadron, enforced the abolition of the international slave trade after the British Parliament passed the Slave Trade Act 1807. Those freedmen who migrated back to Nigeria from Sierra Leone, over several generations starting from the 1830s, became known locally as Saro(elided form of Sierra Leone, from the Yoruba sàró). Egba Diocese, Church of Nigeria is one of 13 within the Anglican Province of Lagos, itself one of 14 provinces within the Church of Nigeria. The current bishop is Emmanuel Adekunle. Jonathan S. Adeniyi was the pioneer Bishop of Egba Diocese when it was created in 1976. On his retirement aged 70 in 1979, he was succeeded by Titus Ilori Akintayo, who served from 1980 until 1994. On his retirement, he was in turn succeeded by Matthew Oluremi Owadayo. Adekunle has been the Bishop since 2009.
