Sagaing Region is an administrative region of Myanmar, located in the north-western part of the country between latitude 21° 30' north and longitude 94° 97' east. It is bordered by India’s Nagaland, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh States to the north, Kachin State, Shan State, and Mandalay Region to the east, Mandalay Region and Magway Region to the south, with the Ayeyarwady River forming a greater part of its eastern and also southern boundary, and Chin State and India to the west. The region has an area of 93,527 km2. In 1996, it had a population of over 5,300,000 while its population in 2012 was 6,600,000. The urban population in 2012 was 1,230,000 and the rural population was 5,360,000. The capital city of Sagaing Region is Monywa.
Kachin State is the northernmost state of Myanmar. It is bordered by China to the north and east ; Shan State to the south; and Sagaing Region and India to the west. It lies between north latitude 23° 27' and 28° 25' longitude 96° 0' and 98° 44'. The area of Kachin State is 89,041 km2 (34,379 sq mi). The capital of the state is Myitkyina. Other important towns include Bhamo, Mohnyin and Putao.

Nagas are various ethnic groups native to the northeastern India and northwestern Myanmar. The groups have similar cultures and traditions, and form the majority of population in the Indian state of Nagaland and Naga Self-Administered Zone of Myanmar; with significant populations in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India; Sagaing Division and Kachin State in Myanmar.
Putao is the northernmost town of Kachin State, Myanmar. It is the principal town in Putao Township. It can only be reached by road during summer and winter as long as it doesn't rain in winter although the road area is tropical and rainfall also very common whole year, but is accessible year round by air if there are sufficient tourist groups to justify a plane. The area around Putao is famous for the variety of endemic birds and rare orchids, which grow naturally. Many orchid lovers are especially attracted by the so-called "Black Orchid" that can be found in the mountains east and west of Putao. Hkakabo Razi and other snow-capped mountains are visible from Putao. Putao also attracts enthusiasts, hiking to Hkakabo Razi base camp, located close to Tahaundam.
Leshi, is a town in Naga Hills of Sagaing Division on the north-west frontier of Burma. According to the new 2008 Constitution of the military regime, it will now be grouped together with Lahe and Nanyun in Naga Self-Administered Zone. Leshi is reached via Htamanthi across the Chindwin River by boat from Homalin, and there are domestic flights from Yangon and Mandalay to Homalin.
Bhamo District is a district of the Kachin State in northern Burma (Myanmar). The capital is the city of Bhamo. The district covers an area of 10,742.9 km2. In 2002, the population of the Bhamo District was an estimated 363,300. The district consists of four townships:
Mohnyin Township is a township of Mohnyin District in the Kachin State of Burma (Myanmar). The principal town and administrative centre is Mohnyin. Jade and gem quality kyanite are produced in Mohnyin Township, as well as amber, gold, asafoetida, and jasper. Indawgyi Lake Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the central north of the township.
Lahe is a town in Naga Self-Administered Zone of Sagaing Division on the north-west frontier of Burma.
Khamti, Hkamti, Singkawng, Kanti or Kantee is a town in Hkamti District, Sagaing Division, in north-western Myanmar. It is the administrative center for both the district and Hkamti Township.
The Naga Self-Administered Zone, is a self-administered zone in the Naga Hills area of Sagaing Region of Myanmar. Its administrative seat is the town of Lahe.
The Danu Self-Administered Zone, as stipulated by the 2008 Constitution of Myanmar, is a self-administered zone consisting of two townships in Shan State. The zone is self-administered by the Danu people. Its official name was announced by decree on 20 August 2010.
The Palaung Self-Administered Zone is a self-administered zone consisting of two townships in Shan State: It was created as a separately administered unit by the 2008 Constitution. Its official name was announced by decree on 20 August 2010. The zone is to be self-administered by the Palaung people. Its capital is the town of Namhsan.
Hkamti Township or Khamti Township is a township in Hkamti District in the Sagaing Region of Burma (Myanmar). The principal town is Hkamti. As of 2014 the township had a population of 47,658 people and covered an area of 8,174 square kilometres (3,156 sq mi). The township is dominated by the Chindwin River and its tributaries and thickly forested areas. Nearly half the active working population are employed in agriculture, forestry or fishing. The township is a producer of rice, and has reserves of gold and jade being mined.
Homalin Township is a township in Hkamti District in the Sagaing Region of Burma. The principal town is Homalin. The principal rivers flowing through the township are the Chindwin River form north to south and the Uyu River from east to west, joining the Chindwin near Homalin town.
Leshi Township or Layshi Township is a mountainous township located within the Naga Self-Administered Zone of Sagaing Region, Myanmar. It is also part of the Naga Self-Administered Zone. The principal town is Leshi.
Yawpami is a village in Leshi Township in the Naga Self-Administered Zone in Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It lies 15 km to the northeast of Amimi and about 30 km southwest of Salem.

Leinong Naga, or Htang Ngan, is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken in Burma. Leinong Naga is spoken in about 25 villages of Lahe Township and northwestern Hkamti Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, Sagaing Division, Myanmar (Ethnologue). Dialects are Yao Dyang and Southern Leinong (Ethnologue).
The jade trade in Myanmar consists of the mining, distribution, and manufacture of jadeite- a variety of jade- in the nation of Myanmar (Burma). The jadeite deposits found in Myanmar's northern regions are the source of the highest quality jadeite in the world, noted by sources in China going as far back as the 10th century. Chinese culture places significant weight on the meaning of jade; as their influence has grown in Myanmar, so has the jade industry and the practice of exporting the precious mineral.
