It contains 14 structures located along three streets: East Forest, Garfield, and East Canfield, between Woodward Avenue on the west and John R. on the east. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Bayne–Fowle House is a masonry townhouse built in 1854 for William Bayne, an Alexandria-based commission merchant. It is noted for its fine mid-Victorian interiors and elaborate plasterwork. During the American Civil War the house was occupied by Northern troops and subsequently confiscated by the Federal government and converted briefly into a military hospital. Since 1871 it has been a private residence.

Frick's Tavern, also known as Frick's Place, is an historic building located in the West End of Davenport, Iowa, United States. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. The building is a two-story brick structure that sits on the northwest corner of West Third and Fillmore Streets. It is part of a small commercial district near the historic German neighborhoods and the industrial areas along the Mississippi River. It is a typical commercial building in the West End which combined commercial space on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.
Highland Cottage, also known as Squire House, is located on South Highland Avenue in Ossining, New York, United States. It was the first concrete house in Westchester County, built in the 1870s in the Gothic Revival architectural style. In 1982 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places; almost 30 years later, it was added to the nearby Downtown Ossining Historic District as a contributing property.

St George's School and Convent are a historic Roman Catholic complex at 124 Orange Street in Manchester, New Hampshire, United States. Built in 1898–99, they are among the city's finest examples of Romanesque architecture, built to support its burgeoning French Canadian population. The school closed in 1970, after which time the buildings have been used to house social service agencies and act as a community center. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
The Italianate House at 608 Academy Street, Valparaiso, Indiana was constructed by Conrad and Catherine Bloch in about 1873. The double-pile brick house has a commanding presence on a double lot at the corner of Park and Academy Streets. A brick woodhouse dates to about the same period as the house. The garage dates from about 1940. The house was converted to the Valparaiso Hospital and Sanitarium by Dr. Harvey Cook in about 1923. It has been converted back to a single family home.
The Caleb H. Marshall House is a historic residential property at 53 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Built about 1858 and repeatedlye extended and altered, it has served as a private residence, an early example of a privately run sanatorium, and multiunit residential housing. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
