Jessica Ramsey (born July 26, 1991) [1] is an American shot putter. She won the bronze medal in the women's shot put event at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. [1] [2]

Contents

From Boynton Beach, Florida, she went to Western Kentucky University to study Social and Behavioral Science. [3] She became the first woman from Western Kentucky ever to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in three separate individual events: discus, shot put and hammer throw. [4] [5]

At the 2019 Shanghai IAAF Diamond League meet she finished 4th in the shot put competition. [6] In Marietta, Georgia on August 29, 2020 Ramsey threw 18.64 m (61 ft 2 in) which put her in the top 10 for the year worldwide for the shot put in 2020. [7]

At the Olympic Trials on 24 June 2021, Ramsey threw a US Olympic Trials Championships Record to win the women's shot put 20.12 m (66 ft 0 in).

College

Ramsey is a 6-time All-American in college while she represented Western Kentucky University and South Plains College. Ramsey won 7 Sun Belt Conference titles in the Shot Put, Hammer, Discus, and Weight throw as a Western Kentucky Lady Toppers.

Ramsey holds the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers school record in the outdoor shot put (17.49 m (57 ft 5 in), Discus (53.85 m (176 ft 8 in), 2nd place in the hammer (61.44 m (201 ft 7 in), Indoor shot put (16.47 m (54 ft 0 in), Weight Throw (20.37 m (66 ft 10 in)). [8] [9]

Ramsey is a 2010 graduate of Boynton Beach Community High School in Boynton Beach, Florida where she set high school best Discus (29.32 m (96 ft 2 in)), Shot Put (14.33 m (47 ft 0 in)), 100 Meters (12.77), 200 Meters (28.30). [12]

Ramsey set a Boynton Beach High School record in the discus which was broken in 2018 by Amber Powell. Ramsey holds a school record in the shot put. [13]

Ramsey won 2010 Florida High School Athletic Association shot put 2A state championship with a throw of 13.098 m (42 ft 11.7 in). [14] Ramsey won 2009 Florida High School Athletic Association shot put 3A state championship with a throw of 13.43 m (44 ft 1 in). As a sophomore, Ramsey placed 7th in the 2008 Florida High School Athletic Association shot put 3A regional championship with a throw of 11.32 m (37 ft 2 in).

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers are the athletic teams that represent Western Kentucky University (WKU), located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, competing in the Conference USA (C-USA) since the 2014–15 academic year. John Oldham was an American college and professional basketball player, college basketball coach and athletic director. Oldham interrupted his studies at Western Kentucky University (WKU) to serve in the US Navy during World War II. He was on the university's basketball team and after graduation in 1949 played for the Fort Wayne Pistons. Oldham went into coaching in 1952 at College High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In 1955 he became coach of the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles men's basketball and led the team to three conference championships. He returned to WKU in 1964 to coach the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers basketball team, leading them to four NCAA tournaments, one NIT, and winning four Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championships. In 1971 Oldham was promoted to athletic director at WKU, a position he held until 1986. During his tenure the university won six OVC and one Sun Belt Conference All-Sports Championship. After retirement he was elected to the Bowling Green City Commission.

The 2015 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football team represented Western Kentucky University (WKU) in the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season as members of the East Division of Conference USA. Led by second year head coach Jeff Brohm, they played their home games at Houchens Industries–L. T. Smith Stadium in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They finished the season 12–2, 8–0 in C-USA play to be champions of the East Division. They represented the East Division in the Conference USA Football Championship Game where they defeated Southern Miss to win their first ever C-USA championship. They were invited to the Miami Beach Bowl where they defeated South Florida. They led the NCAA in Passing Efficiency, tied the school record for victories and were also ranked in the FBS AP Top 25 for the first time in program history.

Janeah Stewart is a student-athlete on the University of Mississippi women's track and field team. The four event thrower from Illinois, was awarded All-American status her first three years of college. Janeah Stewart's winning weight throw of 23.18m/76-0.75 broke the SEC meet record that had stood since 2004 and moved her up to No. 1 in the nation this year and No. 6 in NCAA history.
