In the 2015 state assembly election, Kedar Prasad Gupta of BJP defeated Manoj Kumar Singh of JDU. In the 2010, October 2005 and February 2005 state assembly elections, Manoj Singh Kushwaha of JDU won the Kurhani assembly seat defeating his nearest rivals Bijendra Chaudhary of LJP, Ajay Nishad of RJD and Basawan Bhagat Kushwaha of RJD respectively. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners up are being mentioned. Basawan Bhagat Kushwaha of RJD defeated Brajesh Kumar of BPSP in 2000. Basawan Bhagat Kushwaha of JD defeated Ashok Sharma, Independent, in 1995. Sadhu Sharan Shahi, Independent, defeated Sheonandan Rai of Congress in 1990. Sheonandan Rai of Congress defeated Sadhu Sharan Shahi of JP in 1985. Ram Praikshan Sah of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Singh) defeated Sadhu Sharan Shahi of Janata Party (JP) in 1980. Sadhu Sharan Shahi of JP defeated Hind Keshri Yadav of Congress in 1977. [3] [4]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Abhay Kushwaha</span> Political leader

Abhay Kushwaha alias Abhay Kumar Sinha is an Indian politician from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and a Member of Parliament representing Aurangabad in Bihar, India and former Member of Legislative Assembly for Tikari in the Gaya district of Bihar. An erstwhile member of Janata Dal (United); he won the 2015 Legislative Assembly election to the Tekari constituency by defeating Anil Kumar of Hindustani Awam Morcha, a political party led by former Bihar Chief Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi. He defeated Anil Kumar by a huge margin of votes. While Abhay secured 86,975 votes, Anil managed to get 55,162 votes only. In 2024 Indian general election, he won the Aurangabad, Bihar Lok Sabha constituency by defeating BJP's four term member of parliament, Sushil Kumar Singh. He contested on the symbol of Rashtriya Janata Dal in this election.

Manoj Singh Kushwaha is a former minister of Bihar. Kushwaha was the Minor Water Resources minister in the Jitan Ram Manjhi cabinet in 2014–15. He contested from the Kurhani Assembly constituency in February 2005, November 2005 and 2010 legislative assembly elections, and was victorious.

Basawan Prasad Bhagat is an Indian politician based in Bihar, who was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly twice from Kurhani Assembly constituency of the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. Bhagat also served as minister in Government of Bihar under Lalu Prasad Yadav twice. He was allotted Ministry of Prison Affairs and Ministry of Law. He joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2017 in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya.
