As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 129 Mahnar Assembly constituency is composed of the following: Mahnar community development block; Borhan urf Rasulpur Gaus, Basantpur, Mohiuddinpur Garahi, Harprasad, Mahipura, Sohrathi, Mahisaur, Chandsarai, Dihbuchauli, Peerapur, Rasalpur Purushottam, Bishunpur Bedauliya, Saiyad Mahammad urf Salha, Khopi, Arniyan, Hazrat Jandaha, Bahsi Saidpur, Mukundpur Bhath and Loma gram panchayats of Jandaha community development block. [1]

Mahnar Assembly constituency is part of No. 21 Hajipur (Lok Sabha constituency) (SC). [1]

1977-2010

In the 2010 state assembly elections, Dr. Achyuatanand of BJP won the Mahnar assembly seat defeating Rama Kishor Singh of LJP. [4] Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners up are being mentioned. Rama Kishore Singh of LJP defeated Munshilal Rai of RJD in October 2005 and February 2005. Rama Kishore Singh of JD(U) defeated Munshilal Rai of RJD in 2000. Munshilal Rai of JD defeated Rama Kishore Singh, Independent, in 1995. Muneshwar Prasad Singh of SOP(L) defeated Raghupati of JD in 1985. Munshilal Rai of LD defeated Mithleshwar Prasad of Congress in 1985. Munshilal Rai of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Singh) defeated Ram Prasad Singh of Congress in 1980. Munshwar Prasad Singh of JP defeated Akhilesh Kumar Ray of Congress in 1977. [5]

2015 and 2020

In 2015 Janata Dal (United) deflected from the National Democratic Alliance and allied with its chief rival Rashtriya Janata Dal to form a Grand Alliance called Mahagathbandhan. In the elections to Mahnar constituency in 2015 Umesh Kushwaha of JD (U) defeated Achyuthanand Singh with a large margin of 27000 votes. [6] However, in 2020 Umesh Kushwaha lost to Bina Singh, the wife of Rama Kishor Singh who contested the 2020 election on Rashtriya Janata Dal symbol. [7]

Abhay Kushwaha alias is an Indian politician from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and a Member of Parliament representing Aurangabad in Bihar, India and former Member of Legislative Assembly for Tikari in the Gaya district of Bihar. An erstwhile member of Janata Dal (United); he won the 2015 Legislative Assembly election to the Tekari constituency by defeating Anil Kumar of Hindustani Awam Morcha, a political party led by former Bihar Chief Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi. He defeated Anil Kumar by a huge margin of votes. While Abhay secured 86,975 votes, Anil managed to get 55,162 votes only. Bina Singh is an Indian politician, currently a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal and a Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Mahnar. She is the wife of former Member of Parliament, Rama Kishore Singh. She defeated the Janata Dal (United) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha in 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election.

Manoj Singh Kushwaha is a former minister of Bihar. Kushwaha was the Minor Water Resources minister in the Jitan Ram Manjhi cabinet in 2014–15. He contested from the Kurhani Assembly constituency in February 2005, November 2005 and 2010 legislative assembly elections, and was victorious.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Arun Singh Kushwaha</span> Indian politician

Arun Singh is a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Karakat Assembly constituency in Rohtas district. He is a leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation. Singh has won the Bihar Assembly elections 2020 from Karakat constituency, securing 79,224 votes. He was able to defeat his nearest political rival and the runner-up candidate from this constituency, Rajeshwar Raj of Bhartiya Janata Party with a margin of 16,548 votes. Singh is a political activist as well and he has also contested Bihar Assembly elections earlier in 2010, but was defeated by Rajeswar Raj, who was then a member of Janata Dal (United).

Prabhu Dayal Singh was an Indian politician from Bihar, who served as member of Bihar Legislative Assembly for three terms from erstwhile Mirganj Assembly constituency in Gopalganj district of Bihar. Singh was a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal led by Lalu Prasad Yadav and was considered as a trusted aide of Yadav's brother-in-law Subhash Prasad Yadav. Singh had also served as member of other political parties which included Indian National Congress and Samata Party.
