Stephen Cassidy was the longest serving President of the Uniformed Firefighters Association of Greater New York (UFA) in its 100-year history. He was first elected to the position in August 2002 and is the only UFA President in the union's history to be elected directly out of a firehouse. In 2016,Cassidy resigned his position as UFA President to serve as the executive director of the New York City Fire Pension Fund. In 2018,following his arrest for driving while intoxicated,New York City Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro removed Cassidy from his position as executive director of the New York City Fire Pension Fund.
The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) is the department of the government of New York City responsible for developing and maintaining the city's stock of affordable housing. Its regulations are compiled in title 28 of the New York City Rules. The Department is headed by a Commissioner,who is appointed by and reports directly to the Mayor. Currently he is a practicing physician at Bellevue Hospital and the inaugural Sternberg Family Professor of Leadership at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership,part of the City College of New York.
Keechant L. Sewell is an American former police officer and administrator who served as the 45th New York City Police Commissioner,the first woman and third black person to serve in the position. On June 12,2023,Sewell announced that she was stepping down as commissioner. No reason was given for her departure. On November 2,2023,the New York Mets announced that Sewell would become their senior Vice President of security and guest experience.
Maria Torres-Springer is an American government official and former nonprofit executive who is the Deputy Mayor for Housing,Economic Development,and Workforce for New York City. Previously the vice president for U.S. programs at the Ford Foundation,Torres-Springer was commissioner of the New York City Department of Small Business Services and its Department of Housing Preservation and Development. She was also the president and CEO of the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
Joseph W. Pfeifer is the First Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). He retired as an Assistant Chief of the department in 2018 and was appointed to his current civilian role in early 2023. He was the first fire chief to respond to the World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks. He is also the founder of the department's Center for Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness (CTDP).
